[ i'm so sorry to have a misc. category !! these might go into distinct buckets eventually ]

A Museum of Exclusionary Design
Educational
  • a very great introduction to hostile design in public spaces with plenty of examples
  • i really love how the medium of a game allows the player to examine these benches from all angles and rly see the similarities between the intent in a way they couldn't irl (because of their different locations globally/within the UK).
  • lovely example of a game with a purpose check it out !!
two eulogies: one late, one early
Interactive Fiction
Play in browser
  • absolutely beautiful meditation on death on a micro and cosmic level
  • fabulous use of simple bitsy visuals and mechanics to explore a theme
  • made my ass cry a little
(that's good)
  • this little manifesto puts into words really eloquently what i've felt has been lacking from media lately -- living in a world bereft of weirdly horny creative works kind of blows
  • perversion elevates literally any kind of media even if it's not a fetish I Personally am into just in my little opinion
  • read this manifesto and challenge yourself to create works that embrace sexuality rather than cringing away from it !
An interactive zine on the nature of being raised Christian.
Interactive Fiction
Play in browser
  • an absolutely gorgeous interactive zine about being "born saved," raised into Christianity without asking to be
  • i really love the varied interactive elements used to uncover each page
  • lovely prose!! some lines are absolute gut punches
peat moss, noise, space, bodies
Play in browser
  • wonderfully written bitsy game, a meditation on peat moss the different stratum of a bog
  • i loved the sensory description of your hand sinking through the different layers of plant matter
  • enjoyed how different it was overall !!!
a game about teen girls, blogs and love triangles in 2004
Play in browser
  • another fave that's a simulated chat client slash website builder... my one vice
  • the dialogue between these 13 y/o's chatting in AIM is uncannily spot on i spent this whole game wincing because this was me in middle school and i hate it
  • i really loved the kind of hypnospace outlaw-esque blog site building aspect of this game it's not very consequential but it IS fun
