I made an account just so I can tell you guys that this is one of the most creative, unique, intriguing and engaging games I've ever played, congratulations!

(+2)

That's really good. It's very overwhelming at the start but as you start knocking them out it makes things much easier.

But while it's more difficult because they're all going at once, it's also one of the major charms of the game. eight small games taking small parts of the screen, all going at the same time.

But the endings for each of the small games were definitely the best part.

holy shit this is incredible

First thing I'll say... this was too much for me. I don't mean it in a negative way at all, I think it's very impressive. I'm just not good enough at multitasking to keep track of eight different games!

Each mode felt completely different, but they all had a factor that tied everything together which worked amazingly. If I understood more about what is going on, I would have probably played for longer. Definitely one of the highest quality submissions to any game jam I've seen and I absolutely enjoyed playing it.

One thing to comment on, and I found this particularly apparent in the detective game, it's really hard to read the text.

Nice work! Good luck with the results!

Ironically I just learned how to properly make custom fonts in GameMaker 2 a couple days ago, that information would've been useful during the jam. lol. But thank you so much for the kind words!

Ok I've played some impressive games this jam but I think this one might be the most impressive in almost all categories.  The way the games all intricately link together is crazy.  And not to be too spoilery but the way a certain game resolves another was a huge "holy shit" moment.  Amazing entry.

OMG! This game is so well made. It's maddeningly genius and I want to beat it so bad. Love the style of each level and the music fit each one so well! It's so creepy how difficult it is, like it holds a strange secret! I'm determined to beat this!

Submitted(+3)

This game was so intense! I was so stressed the whole time I played. In a good way stressed I have to add. The art of the game and the various modes I could play were truly unique. Also great polish. I am gonna go and sit down now to relax my little heart before I play again.

Submitted(+2)

Really cool with really nice polish! I think there's probably another ending but I'm too dumb to actually properly finish most of the modes @_@

Really like the ambience and how it's presented. It runs really smooth too. Great job!

Submitted(+2)

Great work! The concept of this game is amazing and you executed it incredibly well with a great amount of polish. The game play was intense, I enjoyed having to jump between the entirely different game-modes, having to regain my footing and delve into new experiences. The atmosphere and aesthetic were impeccable. Amazing job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm super proud of what me and the team where able to finish, and I could not have done it without them.

Thank you very much!

This game has excellent music and theming, really eerie vibes and original take on the mode theme also ! really great work !

Thank you so much!!!

Incredibly well thought out. The learning experience was tough, but I stuck it through and slowly began to learn more bit by bit. Really loved seeing things come together. Especially the connections between some modes (like power going out, or things to find in some modes that help you in other modes). Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! The new player experience, is in my opinion, the weakest part of the game, trying to balance replayability being quick and snappy with not making the pacing too frantic at the beginning was rough. The game is really fun to learn how to beat, but learning how to play can be fairly frustrating for some.

Again, thank you for the really kind words!

this game is super sick. art style and music are awesome. the variety in the modes is pretty great, and they controlled great. too bad i suck at this game lol, would love to see how it ends. awesome job!

Developer

Thank you so much!!! I believe in you! :D

Wow, Really cool way to have different game genres/modes in a single screen. I had a similar idea of multiple genre as game mode but your execution blows away mine lol. I was amazed by the interaction between the different game modes/screens. Managed to somehow beat the game in my second attempt, failed the farm (i sort of ignored it) and platformer screen . I'm curious is there is a different ending to succeed in all the games?

Amazing job btw, really loved the visuals, tense gameplay and everything!

Developer

Thank you very much! There is not, I would've liked to have done that, in fact we wanted to have a big ending sequence to finish out the game, but time was too short.

Thank you though. Your words are immensely meaningful, thank you for taking the time to write this. :)

this is my current favorite entry in the game jam. all of the modes were engaging, i loved how all of the modes worked together and the ux is really clean. i personally felt like the farm mode is way too much more important than the other modes, but i can kinda get it if that was a deliberate choice that you want to force the player to learn on subsequent runs. in a similar vein, corn was also by far the most important resource to the point where it felt bad when i got anything else. i would have liked to have seen the other resources be useful in multiple places in a similar manner as corn. despite that, this is still easily one of the best games of the jam.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! That's a lovely compliment.

You can probably imagine balancing this was a nightmare. If we had a couple more months it would've been neat to really dig deep and find fun ways to make the other resources more important or balance out mode priority in cool ways, alas time was running short.

Thank you so much!!!

Concept, presentation and implementation are all really impressive, great job!

Amazing job with this game. Hope it gets more recognition as the next few days go on with voting. I'm most impressed with the pacing of each "game", the overall design, sound, and everything fits so well together. Congrats to the entire team on this one. You guys should be proud!

Developer

Thank you so much, we are very satisfied seeing all the incredible responses. It means so much. :)

This is my favorite game I've played this jam. In games we want to succeed but this game plays with that expectation. No one ever wants to fail but here, you have to accept that you will! I love the abstractness of it all and there are so many meaningful messages that can be taken from the gameplay.

Amazing game.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you so so much for your comment, I can't express how much the reception means to me and the team.

Regardless, thank you so so much!

So far the most underrated game I've seen. Shouts out to the animator. Words fail me. It's fun, it's extremely unsettling, it is a very unique concept. I did get a crash, however. I have not yet beat it but will be coming back to this one. 5/5.

Developer

Thank you so much! Sorry for the crash, would love to know what happened, as I was hoping I caught all the errors.

Thank you so much for the ratings though, we're all so happy with the game as a whole and hoping it gets more visibility as time goes on. :)

Incredible how much you got done in the amount of time we had. Kudos!
If you're planning on working on this more I'd suggest a few changes for clarity -
1 - When you first enter a square two different text boxes pop up. One I'm assuming to "teleport back" and the other that describes wtf is happening. I couldn't make out either in the first square I entered or the last square I entered, even though I was ready to try and read it on the last square. It also disappears so quickly I  couldn't read all of the text on the longer form ones. I get that the theme is "anxiety" but not being able to read an initial description and having to pull up the controls immediately after entering a square because it was too short was a bit much. lol
2 - I love the style. Black and white is a vibe. Really fits the game. But you lose legibility on things like the gas meter for the car. 3/4 of the time I couldn't even see it because it was black UI on a black background. There were a few other things but honestly can't remember them all because... well there's a lot going on.
3 - I don't know if the text I missed when first entering a square were the controls or the instructions but sometimes I just didn't know wtf to do. I kept the Tomagachi fed and watered the whole time and it was always pissed at me the whole time. When I first went to the debt collector it said "pay $100" so I did and he didn't go away. Next time I did it again then finally noticed the "Debt $3000" and so I just started mashing the pay button before he said "I knew you couldn't pay it" and closed out the game. Which I spent quite a bit of time trying to re-open not realizing I "lost that game" and couldn't.
Generally I don't give this much feedback but you guys clearly put in an ass load of effort to make this and it shows so I figured I'd give some constructive criticisms in case you're planning on further developing because it was a hell of a game and I wouldn't be surprised if you did. Seriously great job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for your kind words. I don't disagree with basically anything you said. appreciate the feedback! :D

Facet is an intense, intriguing, and unique experience with fantastic replayability. Balancing 8 games at once may sound overwhelming, and it initially was, but the more I played and experimented with each game, the more I understood which ones to prioritize. At that point, the game became less about the difficulty and more about solving the deeper mysteries within. The gameplay itself is fast-paced, polished, and most importantly: fun. The aesthetic, sound, and music give the game an eerie atmosphere that fits the dark undertone. I love how the music is one track that changes instrumentation depending on the game you’re in. Overall, what an incredibly enjoyable and engaging experience! Hats off to the entire team for expertly creating this so quickly. God bless you all!
