How does your game fit the theme?
a play on words - deep dumpster diving is a game that follows a raccoon that is trying to work his way though the dumpster yard while pushing around various objects that block his way.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code. I did not make all the assets from scratch - I used some pre-made assets and made sure to credit the original creators in the About page of the main menu in the game.

Truly amazing game! It's so cute and the whole game is a vibe!! Really good puzzles and lots of fun to play

Developer

Hey! Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Very nice game, I played it all the way through! I loved the concept, but I do wish there was audio. the orthographic view definitely make the controls hard, but i like it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you played it all the way through, means a lot!

You're welcome! some feedback on the level with the two ditches though: the reason I was probably able to finish it is since there's a bug where if you run straight at top speed you can clear both the ditches and get the ball across(if you can stop it). It's still pretty challenging either way, and I didn't discover it for a while.

🤫🤫🤫 don't tell anyone

After being fully completed, it is an fun and interesting concept, perhaps a little too challenging in the final stages for those not accustomed to Unity's rigidbody physics, especially when creating the double bridge.

Developer

Yesss, I was waiting for feedback like this hahaha. I couldn't agree more with you - the green level with the double bridge is too difficult and not because of the puzzle aspect but because of the physics and colliders. I tested a little too late and just didn't have time to balance it more - during testing I was thinking "god, nobody is going to get through this one", but hey looks like you did, congrats! Thank you for your feedback, I will have this in mind for my next project!

I enjoyed it a lot. It was difficult to control at first but it's a fun game once I got the hand of it. I enjoyed the level design and it's a unique take on the theme but fits really well. Good work!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words! Really appreciate it!

It's a fun little concept! Using the perspective to hide stuff worked great. I do think the raccoon was a little difficult to control though °°

Developer(+1)

Yes, I agree the isometric perspective makes it pretty difficult to control the player. Love that you liked the concept, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Had fun with the game and rlly liked the graphics! Well done. Walking animation of the raccon looks good, too. Enjoyed playing it!

Developer

Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed the game!

I think the concept is there but it lacks challenge. The controls are difficult and the audio is loud. I think with some polishing and maybe some interesting ways that you have to get the ball into the hole, this could be a fun game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yea, it turned out that the actual challenge of the game wasn't so much the puzzle but rather the physics and colliders - which is never good haha. I was thinking of adding an audio mute/slider but I never got around to do it - something I want to work towards improving in my gamedev arsenal in the future. Thank you for the feedback!

audio is a bit whack, and pushing the ball can be confusing since the rabbit seems to pivot around his ass rather than center of mass. A good rule of thumb for game design is mass > ass.

Developer

Audio is whack for real hahaha - something I would like to improve for my next project. Thank you for playing!

I think you have a basis for a neat game here! That being said I think the physics of this game bugs me the most about this game; the lack of colliders to prevent players and objects from falling out the level adds a lot to the difficulty of the game, and the ball doesn't really feel responsive to the player's interactions. I think if you can tackle these two issues this game would feel a lot more forgiving and fun to play. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Yes, I agree with you - the whole physics aspect of the game needs some polish! Thanks for taking the time to play the game I appreciate your feedback greatly!

It's like raccoon mini golf almost, interesting idea. Could use a way to grab and hold objects to make them easier to manipulate. Good job.

Developer

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you like the idea! Grabbing objects is an excellent suggestion, thanks!

Submitted(+1)

It was fun and creative but I got cancer now because of trying to push ball to the hole :) Level designs are nice and pushing animation is cool.

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for playing! Yea, I almost lost my mind while designing the levels and during the testing phase I was going to go crazy with all the ball pushing hahaha

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art and animations, I like the idea behind the puzzles, I'm not sure if you get more points for bringing garbage into the hole with you, but I felt the urge to do that anyway

Developer

Hahaha you definitely don't get extra points for pushing the garbage into the hole but I'm going to be honest I do that too all the time!! Thanks for playing and thank you for your kind words!

Cool idea! It's challanging but not too difficult,  game looks super cute and is fun to play ^^

Developer

Thanks for playing! Appreciate the kind words!

I think the movement of the ball is a bit strange but I find the gameplay very original with a pretty good game design.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yep, the movement of the ball and all the physics are strange haha. Appreciate your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the game and animation, i wanted to like it a bit more but sadly ended up blocked by the physics ! But real nice game, a bit more polish on the physics side and it'll be a perfect game, nicely done !

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it - even though the physics are a bit off haha. The green floor level is especially hard - I just ran out of time to make it a little more friendly to the player.

Cool game ! I think Its was hard to put the bins correctly in the ground to make a bridge

But overall it was a good game

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes I realized that the collision boxes for the bins and the tight gaps in some of the levels made it pretty tedious to make bridges - thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

The ball movement is a bit clunky, but that creates funnier situations. Pretty fun and relaxing game overall.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing the game! I'm glad you had a laugh, I personally always enjoy some physics based object movement I think it adds some unexpected results. Thanks for the feedback on the ball movement - you are right it feels a bit off at times.

Racoon in game it's instant 11/10

Developer

🦝🦝🦝 Thank you for playing!

I had a good laugh playing this game (the racoon pushing containers is hillarious)!

When I started the game, I thought that the Idea is a little flat BUT (!) you managed to surprise me at level 3 when it was necessary to use the containers as bridges to the other side. Well done!

Only thing to note: The ball felt a little "clokly?". I don't know how exactly you managed the movement but I think using rigidboy with a rather high angular drag might do the trick.

Well done at all!

Cheers, Briskled - Explorer's Descent

Developer(+1)

Really appreciate the feedback - thank you very much for playing, I'm glad you had a laugh! Good idea with the rigidbody + high angular drag, I will definitely try that and see if it will make an improvement.
