I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/P9LPYwERhJtpZzteA

Done!

Hello from tonight's stream!

At first, I was having a lot of fun with the ridiculousness of this game. Sword vulneraries, sword shields?! How insane could this get?! I was excited for what was to come.

And then I made a discovery, one I'm not happy about. One that has outright stripped any joy or positive opinions I had of this game.

You're either borrowing artwork or outright stealing artwork to make your enemy spites. Depending on which it is will drastically alter my view of this game. For the sake of politely, I'll assume the better option.

First, to validate my claim. Many if not all of the enemies come from Fire Emblem Heroes. I have at least three characters from FEH that you've traced for your enemies: Amelia, Sheena and Frederick were copied to be used for the Lunatic Axe, the Axe Witch and Axe Rebel respectively.

When I first saw this, I decided to see if you were selling this game yet. While you don't charge a price for it, you do allow people to pay for it if they want. As such, you may also be in a dangerous legal situation. If Nintendo were to find out about this game, they would no doubt sue you. I would recommend pulling the game off itch.io for now and replace those graphics.

Sprites were based on Fire Emblem characters. If they ended up looking too similar to the original ones, I apologize,  In order to play safer I've uploaded a new version that no longer uses those sprites and disabled the ability to offer donations. I'll be working on fresh art, thank you for your helpful comments.

As a means of expressing my thanks for this change, I'll be sure to play it again towards the end of the jam so I can give you proper feedback. I'm just glad it wasn't an issue of trying to hide it. I would say you should continue to take donations, just be mindful of using artwork from companies like Nintendo. They're very litigious.

Great skill variety with characters. Good job on making a complete world with lots of lore building around Swords and Axes. RPGs are dialogue-heavy but the beginning does too much switching between combat and dialogue. Add more basic battles in the beginning where the first battle starts with just attacks, the next battle teaches sword classes, the next battle teaches class skills, etc. Every mechanic is thrown right at the player in the first 5 minutes so it becomes very overwhelming. Also make the text easier to read by not making it transparent and adding a bold black outline. My eyes struggled to read the dialogue-heavy scripts because of the transparent text. I really enjoy the art style and the control inputs are good. Add a tutorial or tooltip so the player knows what buttons move, a tip to let us know we can click to move around the map, and then a tip that the spacebar talks to characters on the map.
