An optional theme or a limitation ?

Hola. It would dope to add a voting criteria : an optional theme or a limitation (like they do in a lot of jams). It would reward peoples who really make their game in one week. Because the problem of last year jam is a lot of games were already made before the jam & some devs just added a timer to stick to the theme. Adding some kind of limitation will reward people who really respect the spirit of the jam.

We will have a theme, as written in the Game Jam description.
"The theme will be announced 1 hour before the Game Jam starts! "

Theme will also be a voting criteria again.
*It has been last year, already.

Gracias. I apologize for my bad english. What i wanted to ask : is it possible to add a second theme to limit the abuse of people submitting games that have nothing to do with the first theme. An optional theme will reward peoples who make the effort to create a new game during this week instead of adapting an already existing one.

I am sending you an example of what i want to say :

https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-128-health

for this jam, the theme is health but they add a limitation : the only way to go is up

so instead of having tons of dev submitting already existing games, they only have devs who worked for this specific jam.

Unlike Mini Jam, the theme for Game Boy Showdown is a must, and required.
Tbh, I don't see a reason to add a second theme, here.
Also uploading pre-existing games is not allowed.
People breaking the rules will get banned from the jam or at least from winning prizes.

Please re-read the rules section, and feel free to ask again if anything else is unclear! :)
