I really like the vibe of the game. For some reason, the last building would not unlock for me after reaching 250 dark wood and 50 stardust. What am I missing?
Thanks for playing! Unfortunately while trying to get the game working for WebGL, the tooltips on the shop got messed up. There's actually a third cost of 100 mysterious orbs before the last building unlocks.
If you want to see what the last building is without playing again, you can check the screenshots in the comments on the game page.
Your game is enjoyable enough that I don't mind giving it another play. Besides, I want the satisfaction of completing the game. :)
Damm,Man your art style is so fitting with your game.Outstanding job with your game.Great idea and concept.Loved it.Keep going. With this you might reach the top.
Holy crap this was so well polished! Finished the game and had a blast doing it. As soon as I sacrificed my first dink/dork I was like :O
SPOILERS! (Just kidding)
That makes me really happy to hear. I was wondering what people would think about that part of the game, using dinks as resources. Because I was trying not to make it too dark, but I wanted it to be a subtle part of the world building, where dorks die and become entities in another dimension. Just another way to show how the two dimensions were connected. Hopefully it came across well :")
I was drawn in by the art, so let me just say, points for that. Ultimately, this is a fun and satisfying little experience. There is just generally a nice vibe to it: everything works nicely, looks good, and the story lives in that happy middle ground between cute and weird.
Don't know that there's much more for me to say, since this doesn't particularly feel like something that would need to be expanded (feels pretty fleshed out as it is), but I could be proved wrong. Good work!
Great fun moment I had here ! If you want to test our game there you go: https://astral-creation-studio.itch.io/your-princess-is-in-another-dimension
Yay I connected the worlds!
This game is so silly and whimsical, I love it!
Just needs a little UI/tooltip polish :D
Good game, but the Portal on the Dink side won't unlock.
Thanks for playing!
There's a known issue with the UI where some of the required resources for that building display off the right side of the tooltip. So you may have not met the requirements yet
Great gameplay, amigo! I've rated your game. Do you mind trying out my game and rating it?
Yeah what can i say... I played the whole 15 mins. I think that says it all! Nice feel, surprising new story, nice humor, good scope for a jam (thats a special skill in itself). As constructive feedback: I personally was distracted by the giant arrows in the middle. Also I got a little (i think) bug, where i got 4 silos, all ressources full, 3 portals build, but the last building on the dark side did not unlock. Otherwise: well done! Great job as a solo dev.
Thank you! Means a lot that you played for as long as you did.
I'll have to look into why the last building didn't unlock for you. I know there's an issue with the resource cost not showing properly in the tooltip, but if you had all resources full it should have been available..
This game provided a really interesting twist on a management-style game. It could use some sound effects, but it was a fun experience overall.
What a nice game :)
11:51 on my first try... cool idea to have 2 different simulations running in parallel. I also really enjoyed the humorous, macabre undertones. So far progression seems quite linear, so the player's descision aren't as meaningful as they could be, but that's probably something you would need way more time to implement. as it is, it shows great promise already.
last pet-peeve: the rythmic pulsating of the planets is quite aggressive - maybe tone it down a tiny bit?
oh-oh-oh, one last thing: making the chosen item appear different in some way (like a white border or something) would do a lot for the game in terms of affordance.
Thank you! All valuable criticisms. I actually did have animations on the shop buttons that popped them out as you hovered over them and they stayed popped out when you selected them, but it broke while I was adjusting to get the WebGL build working. And I ran out of time for SFX which would have helped.
I also planned on more complex interactions between the buildings in each dimension, but I wasted too much time procrastinating throughout the week.. My original idea was to have buildings in one dimension produce resources only in the other dimension. e.g. A tree grown in the light dimension, produces fruit in the dark dimension. But it was getting too complex overall and I had to reduce the scope of the game.
But thank you for taking the time to play and provide great feedback! I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
Really captivating, could have used sound effects when placing stuff. Great submission
This was really interesting and grabbed my attention.
Amazing game! Great aesthetics with relaxing music. I really like the concept, though at first, I stuck for 1 minute in figuring out to plant the tree lol. However, the 10-15 minutes progress from live and death world, hope I didn't get the wrong idea, is an amazing idea. The game pace and the growth of the data in game are combined so well togther, really a good game
Love it! This is very, very well done. Took me a bit longer to finish and figuring some stuff out. (I put down the well still just to see what happens) but it is a great experience. I think games like this are significantly harder to code. Might try something like this somewhere down the line.
Kudos!
Thank you! I'm honoured that you played it for so long, because to me that's the best compliment my game could get.
I'm not sure how well links work on Itch, but this Unite presentation helped me get to the next level in terms of writing more complex code. I didn't really understand the point of ScriptableObjects, but they make it really easy to develop quickly and keep different game systems separated while still allowing them to share information.
It is relaxing and intriguing. Cannot help myself lol. Unfortunately I cannot click the link but thank you so much. Still have a very long road ahead but i am willing to learn as much as I can :)
Sorry, you can look up "Unite Austin 2017 - Game Architecture with Scriptable Objects" on YouTube!
Thank you!!
I really like the concept. Dink and Dork, very lovable and minimalistic characters. The description box and the hinting system is very helpful. Well done!
Feels comfy! Great job! :)
Really charming little game! I especially like the descriptions and the text boxes that pop up!
Really glad you liked it! It was a lot of fun to come up with the descriptions and lore and I wish I had more time to add even more silly details.
Very relaxing and the visuals are very polished and the aesthetics are very calming! I was a bit confused at what to do at the start and accidentally destroyed my fisrt tree but when I played again I started to understand more about how the game works. The sun system reminds me of plant and zombies! Good game :)
I knew destroying the first tree might be a problem, but I didn't expect the very first player to discover it! hahaha
You can even delete the starting building to get more room, but let's pretend that's a feature ;)
Thanks for reminding me of Plants vs. Zombies though, I completely forgot about that game but it was a big part of my childhood. It must have subconsciously been what inspired my idea for using sunshine as a resource.
