So, I came here to check if what I had to say was already said by the other commenters, and they were. However, I then noticed the screenshots, specifically the highly noticeable shadows in them.

This is what the game looked like on my screen, scaled down to not waste space:

I had an immediate problem trying to tell how the light mechanic worked, because it didn't seem like there were any shadows to hide in. Was this perhaps a bug?

Developer

this might be because of your graphic settings. crank them up to maximum. Then you should see real time shadows

Nice game ,with beautifull aesthetics , just a little hard to understand ,but it could be easly improved :D

Damn, this must be one of the most unique games I've played in this jam, great job! This has the structure and building blocks of a real game!

Great selection of sounds and fonts! The way light is made is amazing, so vibrant!

The movement of the fireflies is a little unpredictable, they can crawl out too much due to shelter when avoiding an obstacle. But in general, everything is very cool done!

I really liked the aesthetics of the game, the choice of the font and the music. The atmosphere is particular, really well done. I think it misses an indication on where the character can go. I see potensh in the game if you improve the existing mechanics or if you add some =D Good job !

The game looks and sounds great. I wasn't really sure what are the rules of where fairies can move not to end up in the light next turn. There were moments where I was sure I would be hidden in the next turn but wasn't, and there were instances where fairies looked like they were in the light, but I guess weren't?

It's a nice and quite polished game but as puzzles go, for me it was a puzzle of how to move 1 fairy and keep it alive (because others revive when you're close to them).

EDIT: well it seems this is a second comment from us because one my other team members already played it and commented on it.

Thanks for playing and your feedback. I will work on the UX and make those things clearer when I continue developing this :)

Hi! I liked the art style and sound design! The light-movement sound was my favorite, so ominous.

I really would have liked some harder shadows cast by the trees to better indicate when I was in shadow, and when I wasn't.

Cool game lovely graphics

Cool game, we really enjoyed the art style. It has a high level of polish, though the bug that sometimes the movement indicator turns blue even though the movement's not possible is a bit confusing.

It would be awesome to see a better indication of where exactly the death zones are, sometimes we felt that our fairies got burned without a reason.

It's a pretty original game with an interesting idea, which I like despite not being a big fan of strategies. Nonetheless, there are some problems with the UX.

  1. There's no indication about a fairy's status. Can I control her and move or not.
  2. It's hard enough to understand the distance of the light which my fairy can be killed on.
  3. It's hard to understand how long and where my fairy can move.

thanks for playing and the good Feedback. Will try to improve those aspects when I continue working on this game

Very relaxing, interesting mechanic.

Sometimes it's not quite clear why the fairy won't move even though the "movement line"is blue...but beyond that: great little game! :)

Developer

This is a known issue . Will fix that in a future update. Thanks for playing :)

Nice and chill experience

The atmosphere is really good, and the use of shadows is really well thought out, it's a nice take on the theme, the game can be a bit confusing at first, since you don't always know you can "skip" your turn at first to move only when it safe, and that it can be hard to know a fairy can move only once per turn, since some times even after you moved all your fairies for the turn you can still get a white path line like you could move.

It's really not a big issue once you get the hang of it though, and its quite fun to play, i'd say what i mentioned aren't really issues with the gameplay but more with giving a bit more info to the player.

Still, pretty solid entry Congrats to you guys :)

An awesome  difficulty curve, supplemented with beautiful looks  and a gloomy atmosphere.  Combining the light mechanic with freezable fairies and turn based movement is genius and kept me engaged!!

Lovely atmosphere, intriguing music and  sound effects, adorable art style. Great entry considering this was done by Only One developer. Love the take on the topic.

Great game, it was fun and really pretty. The style of the cardboard cut out trees was great. with the music and sounds it almost felt horror like. The feel and visuals of the game were top notch IMO especially for a game jam. I still have not played the hard version  yet, but I definitely will.

For feedback though I would say that I really did not feel the theme come through until I read the description,  but the even then the theme did not feel like it was a core part of the game but just a level design restriction, as in if you made the game a full thing you would probably ditch the theme all together (but that is honestly not a bad thing or even a complaint)

For the game play which was fun and built up good tension for me I did find that by the nature of the game play and maps I would just skip multiple turns in a row waiting for the ball to move, maybe there is too much hiding places that are too safe? I do not know.

FANTASTIC entry over all and one of my favorites.

The game looks fantastic, love the lightning and atmosphere! The little story pushes the game forward nicely. Well done on making a juicy game! ;)

The art style is so polished! Really well done lighting too. I'm a sucker for turn based games! Very good!
