Addictive, definitely gets out of control! I think the shield usage could be clearer, I didn't really get it until reading the other comment, but other than that very fun!
Very interesting game. the art is really nice, definely it gets out of control really fast ahahah. i was a bit confused at first for the shield because it blocks yellow projectiles but not the red ones, but after a few attacks i got it. other than that, Good job :)
Having the entire arena visible at all time works super well so your never caught by surprise when a bullet comes your way. The graphics make everything clear, I suppose the enemies could be a different color to the player as to not confuse yourself with an enemy. But it was great fun nonetheless.
Thanks for playing it and for the feedback :D
I had fun playing your game too !
Ok, the name didn't lie, it's literally TOO MANY BULLETS, after all XD
Although you said the audio is pre-existed, the choice is great for this game, fits your art well. And yeah, the art itself is so interesting and unusual. To be honest, some parts of the main menu were hard for reading (I guess because colors blend together), but the overall look is nice and pleasing.
Surprisingly, with all the simplicity of the game, it was so intense and satisfying, I really was on the edge of my seat all the time :D I didn't really get what is happening to the character once the bullet run out, does it stop moving forever ahaha? But apart from that, had a lot of fun! Keep up making games, I want MORE BULLETS (and games)
Woo Thanks a lot !!!
Yeah you can continue to move if you absorb enough bullets :) So you really have to use your shield during this "frenzy mode" :)
Thanks again for the feedback !
I liked the unique mechanics. It was a bit hard to read the "how to" at the opening screen due to the colors contrast. Catchy music, fun gameplay. good job!
Thanks !
U are right we should have been more careful about that contrast :/ Thx for the feedback !
That's a lot of bullets! I like the risk/reward mechanic of launching a ton of bullets. It's a nice touch that the enemies get smaller when they are damaged.
That's a pretty cool game! the concept is very clever, with a bit more polishing it will became Amazing, keep going! rated! please check out my game too :D
Quite fun, though I did not understood at first that your shield only protect your from yellow bullets ^^'
(Also, it made my pc crash :o)
haha sorry !
It's fine ^^
It's an interesting idea and very enjoyable. Good job!
Fun game! I like the art style! I also liked the bomb too. Maybe in the sequel there could be some extra pickups to makes things even more great. I enjoyed it!
Nice work! I liked the bullet hell meets twin-stick approach. I wish there was a more visible cursor, because i often lost my mouse on the white background. Great game!
Cool bullethell shooter with interesting mechanics, the chalkboard type art style is fun aswell!
Thanks ! This is weird to have good feedbacks on our art considering we can't draw and that's the first time we tried haha ^^
This is really cool! There's a lot of strategy involved with waiting for the right moment to shoot, to make sure you hit it. I also really like the music. I wish there was an indicator for where the enemies would spawn though, as I was caught off guard by some appearing right behind me. Overall, good work, keep it up!
Great game! The art style and music both work really great for this one. The overall mechanic is pretty solid, and the bullet hell aspect is well complemented by the need to manage the amount of fired bullets on the screen.
I kinda agree with Charlie Gray’s feedback on enemy shooting. It gets a little bit too hectic too fast. However, I don’t think you should entirely get rid of it. Your idea of having melee only enemies would work really well - if you had two types of enemies, with only one of them shooting, it would reduce the bullet clutter already.
Another idea is to telegraph the shots - add either a short charging animation, or something like a progress bar on the shooting enemies. Maybe make them stop for a second before shooting. Something that would let the player know they are about to shoot.
Oh Wow i love the idea of the 2 types enemies with one that's charging its bullets :D
Thx a lot for that :) If we continue it, we will totally go for that !
This is great! One of the best interpretations of the theme I've seen, the situation is totally out of control but the player is still in control, which is important for making a game be fun.
it got outta hand pretty fast - nice!
Thank you :D
I love the arstyle.
And I like the idea for this game. It's simple but has enough depth to it that it makes for a bit of fun.
Maybe I just didn't read the instructions carefully enough or it wasn't mentioned in the game but at first I thought the shiel was buggy. It took me some time to notice it only works once the bullets turn yellow.
And there is one thing I would change: Don't have the enemies fire bullets. And here is why I think that would make the game better (keep in mind that this is just a suggestion and I'm basically spitballing here but maybe you could think about it):
I think the screen gets filled up with bullets enough just by the player shooting and missing.
Because you don't really know when an enemy will fire you are weary of getting too close to an enemy, so you shoot from a distance which means that you miss more often and the game gets pretty tough rather quickly. And the fact that the shield doesn't block freshly fired bullets means I can't even safely approach enemies with my shield up.
I think the game would still be challenging enough if the enemies didn't fire and the gameplay would be a bit more streamlined, making the game a bit more tactical.
Of yourse, with more and more enemies spawning it would get hectic anyways but start out a bit more in control.
Which might highten the feeling of chaos later on if the player is able to build up some amount of control which then spirals out of control instead of basically starting with chaos.
I definitely had fun playing your game, though. And (maybe even more so) thinking about it. :D
Thanks for the feedback !
We know our game is hard but we let it that way to really show the intention of the situation becoming out of control. Since it is the theme of the jam we wanted to really show that part of the game :)
Thank you
I agree that the tutorialising about the red and yellow bullets is definitely not done.
I really like your idea of just swarming the player with ennemies, but it is needed to make them dangerous.
So they might be able to hurt you on contact, for example, instead of firing, that would be interesting :)
Or it would be possible to give ennemies a dash, that would means that it is needed to keep some distance - and miss some shots, which would lead to more chaos
I am glad you had fun :)
Great game. I really fits to the theme. I wish the player would have a different color than the enemies. Really fun game! It makes me go YES!
Thanks for playing !
We tried different colors but we thought that one was the best but maybe we're wrong haha :)
I was surprised how well this worked. Very addictive simple game. I loved the shield mechanic and bomb mechanic. And because of these, it turned out to be quite original. Really great job, ps good choice with the music.
Thanks !
This is a really fun game and I liked the bullet hell aspect of it. Having to be careful of how many projectiles I'd used was a really nice touch, and the shield worked super well.
Great concept! I really enjoyed it.
Thanks a lot ! :D
