this is such a good idea and i really want to see this scaled up to include all kinds of different abilities and upgrades! as some other comments said i think it would be more intuitive to change the steering to be similar to asteroids.
So good! The clean presentation makes it easy to focus on what's important and the built-in tutorial was great and easy to follow. Like Benjiiiee below, I really liked how you have to be careful about how you attatch to other pieces - that it's not as simple as flying into upgrades to permanently add them. There could perhaps be a bit more "juice" but that's honestly a small complaint for how well crafted this is. Seriously nice work!
Really cool concept! I love how you have to watch out how you attach stuff so it's not damaging you. And even take fire on purpose to destroy something that's badly placed. Good stuff!
This game is awesome. I'm definitely going to play this one again. It's really fun to build a massive battle ship. At first I thought it was overkill, until a giant enemy ship spawned in and completely obliterated me.
Fantastic concept. I disagree with people who say it isn't fun. The minimal art style didn't bother me, although next time I'd consider throwing some bloom and other post processing to add some more game feel if you're going for simple geometric shapes. Still, I went back for a second play through after my first run, so you're clearly doing something right ;)
the concept is amazing, but the graphics aren't very good and the game isn't fun. the game could be something though if you implemented more "game feel".
Even though the graphics were simple, the feel and look of this game was absolutely gorgeous. The mechanics were well implemented and polished. I just wish I didn't have to worry about blowing myself up, though I get that might just be a part of your design.
Controls weren't the greatest but the idea is awesome! Katamari Asteroids.
Holy cow, yes please to this game! I second the suggestion to switch the control scheme to something more like asteroids. However, I love the chaotic situations that can occur if you are not careful, like getting a gun but having it only shoot you. I also love the way you implemented the text in the tutorial. Great work!!!
This was super well-conceived! Love that there was a tutorial, that made it feel like a really polished experience. The minimal art is very attractive and the solid CHUNCK sound when elements attached themselves to your craft was very satisfyingly.
I think if I continued to play for long enough I might have eventually become more comfortable with the controls, but as a new player I found the double arrow scheme of moving with WASD and rotating with the arrows a little challenging (kinda like patting your head and rubbing your tummy lol ). I feel like this game would work really well with aiming being handled with a reticle controlled by the mouse.
Thanks for the feedback! The mouse aiming would be easier but then it gets weird when you have guns pointing not forward because you can't just point the reticle anymore you have to adjust for where your guns have attached themselves. Not sure how to best get around this issue haha. I think providing both control schemes would be a good workaround though!
This game is really cool! One problem : the control was a bit hard for me.
The concept is indeed really similar to what I did, the execution is quite different though, I really went for action when you really added a strategy element to it. The power ups and friendly damage really change the feel of the game. Nice spin on the idea !
You are right we did have some similar ideas! Epically interesting we both added power up parts that did similar things!
I actually took out self damage from mine because I got too sad when I blew up part of my own ship, maybe you could have the shot not go though you but also not damage you?
Yeah that's what I was thinking - gets blocked but doesn't do damage!
Captain forever meets katamari, what's not to like? Nicely done!
Very cool idea and well executed. Best I've seen so far.
I love the clean visuals, and your tutorial was flawless. I had trouble a couple of times with the gun not being able to fire because of the angle at which I picked it up. Overall a wonderful game and you should be proud of yourself!
very very cool concept! Nice job!
A fun mechanic, and a beautiful presentation, nice job!
I had fun playing, and the tutorial was very helpful, you did a good job teaching the game. Consider making the tutorial a little bit faster for players who get a hold of the rules quickly. This might be tough to do, but I noticed I was on the WASD section of the tutorial for a bit too long even though I was moving around, and once I started shooting with the weapon it would have been nice if the text transition immediately started.
In any case, that is just a small critique, and the tutorial is already good enough as it is. Great job, I liked playing this game a lot!
This is probably my favourite game so far! Such an interesting concept and fun mechanic! Hopefully you expand on it!
I had a lot of fun! Really cool concept!
