Ok, here are useful tips for anyone stuck.

1. The wind changes in a sine wave pattern

2. You need to jump with the wind to get to some boosts

3. Your jumps are directional

4. You should jump at the peak of your previous jumps for maximum distance

5. Jumps and directional boosts are best if used while pointing up and right

Very tough haha, but also cute! loved the minimalism.
Congrats on making a game!!!!

I think I would like this game, but I could not get trough the first obstacle under 5 minutes... xd

Really cool art and concept but i had a really hard time doing the first segment of the game.

Developer

Yeah, a lot of people seem to have that issue. Two things that help me get through the level are the fact that the wind goes in a sine wave, and the trick of using your double jumps diagonally up just before you start to fall. Did you notice either of these in the level, and if you didn't, would they have helped? I'm trying to figure out how to improve the learning process of the game.

If you want, you could provide some 'hints' in the description of your game on it's page! That's what did for ours. I think you can still add it if you want to?
It's a jam game afterall, and teaching the player the core of your gameplay is no small task!

I actually just added some tips in a comment here, but if I can add the tips to the instructions, that's even better. Thanks!

The concept is awesome!

At first the controlls were very confusing.

Developer

Thanks!

When you say "at first", do you mean that you figured it out eventually? Out of curiosity, how far did you get?

Submitted

I got to the end / house. What I meant was that I had to re-read the page to know that I had to press up. Maybe some better player feedback when pressing up would have been nice. And even at this point it felt a bit random if the bird got height or not. After ~1-2min I kinda got the hang of it. Oh and on a side note: Reset the player velocity when respawning ;)

Developer

Yeah, I didn't notice the player velocity thing until earlier today when my bird was stuck in a death loop at the end. Thanks!

Love the music and the minimalist art! I couldn't make it past the second flag, felt like I was missing something about the controls to be able to get to the wind bird there.

Submitted(+2)

Loved the concept, loved the music.

The movement was a little bit difficult, I think if the game was longer, one would get better in it.

It would make an awesome mechanic for some platformers ;)

Developer

Thank you.

As for the movement being difficult, it definitely should be longer, and I need to tweak the difficulty curve. You imply here that you finished the game. Did you? The difficulty is brought up a lot in these comments and I'm curious how many people actually beat it.

Submitted(+1)

Really good music and art, the movement controls were a bit weird and awkward though

Submitted(+1)

Very cute art <3

Submitted(+1)

Could be a great puzzle game if the movement was further polished

Submitted(+1)

Great work, to echo what was said here, it is quite difficult to move around, the wind mechanic is difficult. Great idea though, and with a little polish would be wonderful.

Submitted(+1)

The jump/wind mechanic is quite difficult to understand. Moving around is difficult, but the idea might be expanded upon. Nice job for 48 hours!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the idea even though I got a little frustrated as I couldn't clear the second jump after 5 minutes.
