Really cool idea, great interpretation of the theme and the game is extremely polished. Awesome job :)

Wow, incredible job with this. Feels very polished for a jam game.

Developer

Thank you very much, it means a lot! :-)

Well done, I love cozy tile games like this and I really liked the art style. Are you supposed to be able to get to a point where you can't place your last tiles because there are no valid spots? I hit that and realized I lost at that point.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

It is quite easy to get to a situation where it is impossible to place some shape. There is a "SKIP" button in the lower left corner. It will skip the current shape and you can continue with the game.

Amazing game! The music is nice, the gameplay is smooth, and the concept is great. It's super enjoyable and the feed back when setting the tile is very satisfying. Can't believe I did worst the second time ^^

I agree with some comments below, the randomization could be a little bit improved, such as making the shape list shuffle at the beginning of the level and then let the shapes follow the list from topp to bottom, or something like that.

Anyway, congratulation for this entry!

Developer

Thank you! 😊

I think we could experiment a bit with reducing the randomness of the shapes. My concern is that a fully predictable order might make the game feel too thinky, giving players too much information. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but we aimed for a more relaxed, cozy experience. I was actually considering some way to delay a shape instead of skipping it entirely. We'll see...

A really well done game! I could sit and play this for hours, I love the coziness and ease of it. The rules were easy to pick up and I loved learning what new rule/square was added each level. Great job and great game!

Developer

Thank you very much. We really appreciate it. :-)

Very good game! I like everything. I was not sure what I did in the beginning but after some levels it was clear. :-)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. I am glad you liked it! :)

This is so good! I love the options that open up being able to use water to clear tiles, it takes quite a punishing tight grid and allows more skilled players (not me) to expand their options. Mixing a match 3 cascading pieces with polyominos truly great idea.

A few nit picks (the game’s great these really aren’t a big deal) It may end up being a bit burdensome but for such a tight game the shape order being randomised can feel a little too swingy, especially with the pieces varying is size quite a bit. I don’t think a determined order would be better but a randomised order where you get to see at least the next shape coming up could be a good balance. Also one of my favourite parts of tile laying games is counting points, especially when there’s more complicated scoring than pure size. Every time I got my score I hoped the score tracker was only tracking absolute sizes and not bonuses from mountains etc. definitely a personal thing but a Balatro esque point count up could add a little drama to the end of a stage. Obviously players can just count stuff themselves idk I just like to watch the number go up (especially with placement specific bonuses).

Really impressive game even outside of it being a game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, for the praise, and also for the feedback!

You are right about the randomness. It would be better if the order of shapes were a little bit more predictable or if player could somehow influence it. But how exactly? It is something to think about.

I really need to look at the Balatro game. Never heard of it before and twice already today :)

I loved this one! Somehow I hopped on to try a bunch of entries and give them some ratings and ended up playing this one for a hours haha. This is is pretty well done, I loved the mechanics and the ambience music fit really well.

I wish there was some way to maybe temporarily skip a tile, and have it come back later in the queue. Sometimes getting a 1x1 right off the bat felt really bad because its such a useful tile later in the round.

This is really well done. You should be proud of this entry!

Edit : I’d also like a setting to be able to see the score on a certain tile. :p

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! About seeing score on a certain tile: Try to hover mouse over the "current score" in the top right corner. It should show you current score of each tile. Is that what you were looking for?

Submitted

Yep, that was it!

I also have some technical curiousities…

I was also wondering, how did you set up the global scoreboard? I think that’s awesome!

As for the chest rewards, I assume they are saved/loaded through the user:// directory to retain after leaving and coming back?

Developer(+1)

Chests, settings and local score is in the user:// directory so they are in your browsers local storage.

Global score is stored/retrieved from my server using http requests.

A very enjoyable experience - not sure how well it fits the theme, but who cares! you made a very nice and polished puzzle game - well done!

Developer

Thank you! The game was supposed to be about erasing tiles and than building something from them. But as the development went, the theme became less and less obvious and faded away... you could say the theme was erased from the game? :)

Submitted(+1)

haha, yeah I guess that can happen - you should still be very proud of what you made - hope to see a full release at some point

Submitted(+1)

I would not be surprised if this game wins. I have no notes.

Developer

Such a high praise, I don't know what to say. Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Came to see what my wife spent multiple hours of her life on. Stayed because you made a great game!

Developer

Thank you both for playing. We are so glad you liked it :)

Really great tile placement game, very impressive execution. Loved it.

Developer

Thank you!

Great unique idea, sounds were satisfying and the music was relaxing. I like the tetris inspiration. Surprising amount of depth/strategy. Maybe it is already there and I missed it, but I would have liked a way to reference the "new" tile scoring explanations again after the level starts

Developer

Thank you, we are glad you like it. :-)

I like that suggestion. I believe we would add that option eventually, but the jam deadline was uncompromising. :-)

Developer

Thanks for playing! There is currently no option to review new tiles once the level starts. It could be useful for sure.

Submitted(+3)

This game is so good, very unique. The graphics and the music are majestic 🐎⭐

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much.

The graphics are Maotica's work. I adore those tiny little terrains too. :-)

Some games deserves to become full fledged commercial games. This is one of them. Wonderful!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Oh, thank you very much. This has been most encouraging. :-)

Submitted(+2)

I enjoyed playing this, the music was lovely and fitting. The are was beautiful

Submitted(+2)

Fairly compelling, and devilishly difficult.

I would say for a full fledged game, you might want to pad out the run time somehow.
So that the player has time to get used to the added complexity (mountains, bandits) before adding a new one.

But overall, it looks really solid!

Developer

I agree with you. Being it a full fleddged game, a slower introductionary of new features would be better.

And thank you for giving it a try.

Submitted(+2)

This game is so much fun. I have been playing it for almost an hour now. I paused so I wouldn't forget to rate/review the game. Now I'm going to go play it some more. 😁

Submitted(+2)

Update: I played for almost 3 hours and forced myself to quit. Really great entry!

Developer

Haha, thank you for checking out our game. I'm happy that you enjoyed playing! <3

Developer

Oh no, we created an addict! :-D
No seriously, thank you very much for playing and for your kind words.

Developer

I wonder if you  collected all chests...

Submitted(+1)

I did, and got the thank you chest multiple times. ☺️

Submitted(+3)

Hey, this is REALLY good! I really really enjoyed playing :)
