Really feel like I'm missing a 'spacebar to wait' here. Especially being chased by the boulders who keep step with me, and force me in to a corner.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I mentioned this in a previous comment, but the lack of a "wait" feature was an intentional decision that I don't think was 100% successful. It can lead to some frustrating situations like you described- although I think that may partially be more of an issue with the level design. Maybe having more loops in the levels and less dead-end corners would have helped.

High quality and polished as always. Great work it was a lot of fun. Love the pack rat.

Very nicely polished, the art style is wonderful and on theme. There was a surprising amount of depth to this and I really enjoyed it for a few runs!

I love traditional roguelikes I loved this game as well. Fun, beautifully programmed, polished, fluid and engaging. Good game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! You would not be calling it "beautifully programmed" if you could actually see the code base lol

I understand you!!! Time is short and you don't focus too much on cleaning up the code, understandable! Even the code of mine could have been done in a more “elegant” way, but I had very little time to finish it! :-D

The mechanics were a lot more in-depth than I expected! I went in to the encounters overconfident that I'd be able to erase them all only to be humbled by the circle enemies. After I wisened up this was a very enjoyable take on the theme! Great job

Excellent work!  My very very very minor issues are having to click to exit the shop, wanting the push animation to angle a bit so the eraser led to really sell it and wanting the grid to be the ground, not the background.  None of this got in the way of having a great time.

Developer

Thanks for playing! You actually can still use the arrow keys to get to the exit button in the shop (just keep pressing down), or you can press escape to close it. Probably more of an issue with how the buttons are laid out- having the close button off to the side kind of makes it look unrelated to the other buttons.

Good note on the background too- I think there may have been a cleaner way to get the sort of effect I wanted. Maybe just tiling the background so it could move with all the foreground elements but keep the background drawings in view would have been enough.

I agree with Born2beBlue.
It seems to be very polished, nice looking and a lot of fun!

This is one of the most polished games I've seen in this jam so far!  The art is especially very good.  Good job!

I love this type of dungeon crawler but  it seem we can't skip a turn, well i'm just more familiar when you can and that's not a deal breaker if we can't. I definitly enjoyed  playing it

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah not being able to skip was an intentional decision on my part. The idea was that you'd erase things like rocks or use items to let enemies get closer- so it'd be a sort of resource that you could run out of. Not sure if that was entirely successful though, since enemies sort of bum rush you when you enter a room, so you don't have a chance to get near many rocks or other objects.

I see, it's an interesting feature, on my part i didn't have the chance to use it well, if that was what you were aiming i thinks you need to find something to give more opportunity, i don't know how but maybe when breaking line of sight freeze the ennemy for 1 turn that could be usefull around corner (not sure about the idea since it seem not balance but if that help)

Great gameplay / very smooth experience. I love the use of the classic S as the currency and had a great time playing this one. In addition to the super nostalgic, on theme art style, I thought the audio worked really well and elevated the experience a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Very on theme, love the art, love the music and gameplay loop. Excellent job!

Really enjoyed this, it's a really polished experience and I like the theming.

Amazing game. The art design was so cool, sort of reminded me of the classic Fancy Pants flash game mixed with the gameplay of Necrodancer. Only thing I would add is WASD for movement as well as arrow keys :p

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. Damn, yeah adding WASD is a no brainer I can't believe that never occurred to me lol

The game was fun and challenging. loved the artstyle and the drawings in the background. only issue I have is there didn't seem to be a full screen button. other then that it was great

Developer

Thanks for playing! That's so strange- I've got the fullscreen button option enabled in the game settings, and when I go to the page I'm able to see the button and fullscreen it. What browser are you using? Not sure if it's a problem with my game export or Itch.io

I was using opera gx. Do you have the setting enabled on the itch page?

its there now. might have just been me not seeing it
