I like the game, and it felt quite frantic after a while, especially when you get teleported or your device gets thrown away from you. I liked the voice acting on the chanting too :). Good job

Very good premise well executed with consistent aesthetic and sound design. Is there a way to get past an oni without a gong? It felt like it was unavoidable that the spirits would cause me to let an oni through eventually, then at that point I was just doomed to eventually be overwhelmed. Either way the game balance got the tense desperate mood across very well. Great work!
Thank you for playing! Yeah the Oni can only be removed with the gong. It forces you to be attentive to the wells, though you can very easily kite them prior to 5 am where they move faster than you. Now, if you are at a level 3 well and chanting, it will never escalate. It also resets the escalation timer of the well. You can use this as an advantage, but sometimes the timing can be tight depending on how badly the other spirits start harassing you. I spent a good amount of time balancing to keep it tense but not too easy, but it could use more work. Thanks again!
The atmosphere of the game was great. Nice idea for a game. I had fun playing it. Well done! :)
The theme is very nice and the bonus features like the voice are pretty fun.
Really nice presentation and original use of the sprites. Looks lovely
MAN this is SO my style of game. It's my life, I'm always trying to survive till the morning. The theme was my favorite so far of all the jam. I love the japanese theme, and purifying the wells, the cherry blossom petals flowing was such a delicate and great atmospheric touch. これは良いゲームです! おめでとう!
This is the best use of the art assets I've seen in the jam so far. Truly gorgeous art, perfect for the game.
Also, the sound design is incredible.
Once the other spirits start showing up, the gameplay does get a bit more interesting - and they certainly work well as jump scares haha - but I will say the gameplay does get a bit stale, since it is quite repetitive. I think adding a few more things that change up what you need to do would really help the game hold my attention for longer.
But overall, this is absolutely one of my favorite entries in the jam I've played so far. Really, really great work. I love it.
The sounds are amazing. It is a fun little game for a bit, but needs to change up a bit more to keep my attention longer. Good game!
Thank you for playing and commenting! Yeah, I thought about ramping things up earlier, but the game is so short as is (6 mins max time to beat), that I didnt want to overwhelm people 2-3 mins in. Unfortunately that makes things a little boring until 2am ish. by 4am all entities can appear and things get kinda crazy kinda fast. I think the game needs a 20/20/20 mode lol.
I really enjoyed this! Kind of reminded me of that old slender man browser game but less terrifying. Agreed it wasn't super scary but it had a nice creepy atmosphere and made me jump a few times. I actually thought the neon-ness of the graphics was kind of unique, had kind of a kitschy horror vibe. I liked the random events that shook things up every once in a while and made you change up your strategy. The pacing also worked well. Overall a nice creative use of the assets and a cool concept!!
I saw other people mention this but I also hit the non-restart bug in the browser. But it wasn't a big deal.
Nice work : ).
I enjoyed the game, but I wouldn't call it a horror game, it feels more like a management game for me. I wasn't really scared even for a single second, in fact the game was really funny to me with all the chanting and that moan the spirit makes when they spawn. The aesthetic looks great, but again, they are too brightly lighten up for a horror game, it feels less like I'm in the middle of nowhere in the woods and more like CyberPunk: Tokyo 2020 or something. Overall its a great game, just not a horror game at all for me.
I really liked the atmosphere of the game and the mechanic with the chanting is quite unique. At first I thought I would have to complain that the game is not scary at all but shortly after that thought the monster appeared and made me change my mind instantly :D Here are a few things that could be improved imho:
- It would sound better if the chanting would fade out instead of just abruptly stopping when I release the mouse button. That was a bit immersion breaking
- I don't know if the neon colors and the glow are a good fit for a horror game. Like I said above the game is not that scary without the monster. I think it would be even better when the environment itself would look and feel scary :)
- I would have loved to learn more about the lore of the game. I found the japanese(?) setting really interesting and would've loved a bit descriptive text about the creatures and mythology behind this game
Nonetheless great entry. Oh and great use of the assets as well :) Good job!
Very interesting concept. Loved the atmosphere, theme and the use of colours and lighting was great. Struggled a little bit at first to get my head around it. I read some of your responses about how this was your first time making a game like this and FPS etc, I think you're on to a great start and things can only get better from here, good job :)
Nice game, first horror game ive seen and had some nice little jump scares. I was playing the browser version and was having trouble restarting after death without refreshing the page. Great work :)
Neat little spooky game. Would be nice to have maybe 2 or 3 variations of chanting just so it doesn't get so repetitive
Incredibly polished game! I really loved the use of bloom, the 3D audio, the chanting sound effect (all the sound effects actually), all these really gave the game a spiritual and spooky mood!
I think my only nitpick is that the night lasts a bit too long. There's a bit of downtime before the game gets to the spooky part, and it feels a bit too punishing (i.e. one touch of death) given the amount of time it takes to get there.
But overall, fantastic work! I really enjoyed it!
Really beautiful game with a solid atmosphere to it. I forgot to read the tutorial but just about managed to work it out. Nice sound effects too :)
