It was fun, original and had a perfect difficulty curve. Although, I experienced some problems playing with TYU-GHJ-BNM mode.

It seemed to work perfectly at first, but when the monsters where you have to press their number (not the position) appeared, some worked, and some others didn't. It detected as if I was pressing the position (which was empty and resulted in penalization) instead of that number. I think this happened specially with nums 3, 5 and 9. I don't know if this happens only without a numpad, or if it's a bug happening only on this pc. Anyhow, it's best if you take a look at it after the jam, so other players don't experience the same issue.

Personally, I felt a bit confused with the explanations at the start of the levels. No big deal, as I managed to learn the system while playing, but maybe you could explore more ways to explain these things. I understand the small resolution is limiting, though.

Oh, I almost forgot: I love the transitions between scenes, and the art in general!

Good job!

Thanks for your insightful reply. Currently if player hits the position instead of the number of a Num monster, his hit will be transmitted to the numpad key of the number of it. And if the position transmitted is not empty, player's health will not get cost. This is a feature by design. But it is indeed confusing. I'm planning to make an extended version of this game. I'll consider how to make it not that confusing. Really appreciated  for your feedback!

Could you explain this a bit more? I'm not sure if I got it. If it is a design choice, I want to try the game again with that in mind.

I played keeping in mind the game instructions that said “3. Monsters with Number must hit with the corresponding Numpad key, not its actual position.” I understand that if a Num Monster appears in position 3 but features number 5, you should hit 5, right? But that worked only sometimes. Am I missing something else?

Thank you for your quick reply :)

This was fun. I love the vibe overall, and the transition screen is great, especially when you die.

The game's pretty funny, and is a really fun take on whack-a-mole.
One of my faves of the game jam.

Cute game! I love your cute transition ( the emoji loading animation) and the sound effect.

Congratulations, everything on this game seems well thought and made with such care.

From the little tutorial at the beggining to the cute little sprites. Amazing!

Just loved it. Really. I'm speechless.

this feels like a precursor to really addictive casual phone games. could see myself playing for hours. i felt a bit lost between levels and the tasks weren't very clear from the game alone but once i got the feel for it i got hooked :)

Really nice game, and the increasing difficulty after every level adding new mechanics (the number - enemies mechanic was really nice). Pretty difficult, but wow, it's the kind of game that I would love to have on a Nokia 3310! Nice job!

Simple but addictive and very well done. Great job in terms of animation, sound, etc. given the limitations

Lovely little game! Very addictive and iterates really well on the mechanics :)

I know that someone else said it, but the animations and sounds are lovely. Good job, and congratulations!

In point idea for Nokia game. Especially i like the fully numeric control.

Really cool and polished game! I love the animations

I would really love to play this game on a Nokia. Simple and intuitive gameplay. Very good!

Your game is very funny and well done. It takes a while for getting used to the controls but I think that is part of the experience.

One of my favorites of this jam! The difficulty curve is nice and the duration of levels are just right. I love the graphics and the idea and I agree, the cat is cute :)

I tried the game when it came out days ago but I don't know if I got better at it or you changed something but the game is a tid easier and a way better experience !
Maybe the MOST innovative game of the all jam without too much doubts !!!!!!!
The only problem I could find was that AZERTY keyboard are not supported but it isn't a deal breaker with such an amazing gameplay ! Keep making such great stuff !

I really enjoy the way you utilized nokia-like controls to make this one work and it wasn't just arrow keys+action key

really kind of reminds of a wack-a-mole type game

it's pretty varied in the gameplay but the tutorials are making it feel a lil bit sluggish because is a hard stop imho.
Anyways, I like that they stay true in sound and easy to pick up and play

The only thing I can say is that I would love some sort of grid. I got lost few times when there was just one enemy.

Impressive game!

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry about hearing that. I'm quite curious about what you said. At which level did you lose? If you hit an empty gird, it will cost you 1 health.

Tried the boss 3x but failed. The grid problem for me was always first 2-3 enemies, and than after the few number enemies in a row, where I got confused after (kill numbers with position numbers).

I would say it is perfectly fine as it is, grid would be just quality-of-life/accessibility feature.

Very cool idea, I had a lot of fun! The quality is high!
