  • GDD: GDD seems good, but I am little confused for why it is in document tabs? I like the inspirations and the pitch. That is good to included. Art has images! That is very good with concept art. It helps with the reader to visualize the artist's vision. Good with the development timeline as it showcases transparency of the game's state and progress. But dont hold back with the details on the timeline. Game: Good with intro. The respawn button should be R than Z, since that is the most common button for restart in most games. Perhaps add an pause menu as well? The tutorial levels are very unforgiven and it makes it hard for new players to actually experience the game for what it could be. On some levels, it is also hard to keep the momemtum and trajectory, but once you get used to it, it is still hard to beat the game.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
In Rang of the Reaper, players take control of a gross meaty flesh stick in the shape of a boomerang, attempting to protect your secrets from curious archaeologists (all whilst avoiding any obstacles in the way, in a series of different levels) To do this, the player can retract the boomerang’s appendages to change their path of motion.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
It's straightforward, you literally play as a boomerang.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Some of the levels have been designed to be very challenging and technical, but all are possible.

Game and sounds are good. It's pretty hard to get a good feel of how to gain / keep momentum. I mainly cheased my way spamming space ^^ Made it to level 2. It's not like ragy rage game, I mean I always felt like I could have done better. One mistake is not over punishing you just retry and try to get better. Tutorial was already super hard for me tho.

Congrats, it's fun and I like the feeling of improving to progress.

A yes another incredibly hard rage game. Made it through the tutorial then couldn't even get through the first room. Never could actually get myself in a big enough circle get momentum going. Confusing from a player perspective how to change trajectory and momentum.

Implementation of sound and the art looks good tho.

Good job on submission!

Hey, thanks for trying the game out and leaving a review! I understand what you mean - one of its flaws lies in the fact that it's unclear how to navigate the later levels (i.e. you have to gain enough height before dropping and curving in the first room), so you have to end up brute-forcing in order to get the intuition required to complete the game. Some more tutorial levels and player guidance is definitely in order.
At least it's good to hear that the game looks nice :-) Props to the artist.

If you're going for a rage game i think you accomplished that! Made it through 3 levels. Good job!

Incredibly addicting, took just under 2 hours to beat. The difficulty of the last couple of levels keeps your there for ages trying to get the perfect run and only then do you beat it.

Took Two Painstaking hours to beat. Despite the absolute pain in doing so, it was so encapsulating and addictive throughout.
