I had fun with Knife Skills! It's a simple yet challenging sort of game that made me feel excited to try to beat my own high score. In an updated version of the game, I'd like to see you update the algorithm for spawning peppers. To me, it looks like you're always spawning peppers in the quadrant opposite from where the last pepper was cut. This looked a bit rigid, and it led to a somewhat frustrating play pattern. To get the most peppers, I had to traverse the longest possible distance on-screen (i.e. the diagonal) without having many peppers in between me and the next big bunch. Reaching those huge packs of peppers always felt great, especially toward the end, but getting there was a bit of a drag. Additionally, I think having some simple sound effects would go a long way toward elevating this experience!

- The GDD was well made, though could of used a bit more graphics and visuals. You did a good job creating a nice fun game, it's simple enough to understand with some skill expression. Your game is lacking any and all kind of sound, which is a shame, as it can add a lot to any game if done right. The animation of the knife is smooth, however, I felt like the control were a bit janky and should be smoothen out some. I think you did a great job with the game's logo!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
Knife Skills is a reverse bullet hell/vampire survivors style game with an emphasis on melee attacks on retreating enemies.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Instead of taking control of say a humanoid character I thought it would be fun to be in control of the actual weapon. Originally I thought of swords or other melee weapons as guns seemed rote to me. In developing the idea further I decided I didn’t want the violent spin and thought of the likes of Fruit Ninja and my own interest in cooking to make something more appropriate for audiences of all ages.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Please be gentle! This was my first game jam. I know the game is very rough and missing a lot of features. I wish I could have devoted more time but I didn't want to burn out with my day job as well. I definitely have a vision and I hope to continue to iterate and improve upon for a full game.
