  • Slice to Meet you is really unique! I loved fully 'controlling' the weapon in this game. You definitely nailed the theme, here. I liked how you coded the enemies to take into account how we were controlling the blade. The 'shield' enemies were a really unique opponent that added a great amount of depth to the game and your choices. At first it seemed it would be too easy, but as I saw the enemies, and that you could mix and match their abilities and functions, and realized it would actually be quite the 'active' puzzle. The music and sounds fit very well! It has the feel of an old retro arcade game, and that was very fun and nostalgic. The only thing I would suggest is echoing one of your commenters; there probably needs to be some accommodations made for different mouse speeds. Additionally, being able to go 'off screen' feels like a cheat. I thought this game had a good amount of polish, and was very fun to play. I didn't encounter any bugs, unless off screen counts as a bug. Your GDD was a little sparse. There isn't much there. I would encourage you, in the future, to expand your GDD to show your timeline as well as explanations of your work, gameplay, and things you fixed along the way. Overall the game was fun and I would highly recommend it!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Controls: Mouse
Story: You are spinning death blade that wants to kill all circles!!
Made with Bevy (BLAZINGLY FAST RUNTIME, blazingly slow dev time). Bevy is cool but not maybe for a fast pace game jam.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You ARE the blade, you ARE the weapon, you are destruction, looking for shredemption!

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
BEVY!!!

This is fun. I like the smooth graphics style. I think I would have liked the gameplay better with a controller than the mouse, slightly different feel. It's cool to see other bevy games here.

Slice to Meet You was a great interpretation of the theme! I really enjoyed the visuals and the game's simple yet satisfying premise. I'd love to see the game expanded with more enemy behaviors.

Interesting! I only got to round 14, and the speed of tracking allowed me to cheese the enemies with shields, but I rather liked the mechanics. Also impressed you got the mouse to fairly reliably stay inside of the window, other people's submissions in different engines struggled to do that. Also just impressed with you having so many levels, anything over 5 can be a real challenge, and they seemed to generally get harder at a fair rate.

Saw blade sounds were visceral and heavy, the artstyle was perfect for a pick up and play arcade game it it fits the theme perfectly. Great job!

No worries! Your game's fun! Super polished and replayable! I think you could go hard on the sound design and you'd really have something awesome on your hands. But it's already really great!
