i'm not sure if i ran into a bug, but the monster could attack me inside of the lockers even if he was offscreen when i got into it. i wasn't really able to progress because of that since at the start one gets in your way. i liked the floppy movement of the characters but it ended up making what were supposed to be scares into silly moments. walking into the room with the hanging man, i just sort of flopped him out of the way and took his loot. i still think it's a cool idea to use procedural movement like this for a horror game, but if you were to continue it my suggestion would be for the monster you might want to lean into the procedural animation instead of using a human rig. something big and tentacley might play into it better. still very cool though, it's very polished with a lot of nice effects for a jam game!

I'm glad you liked it😄
The monster can pull you out of lockers if your flashlight is still on inside it👍(it can see the light lol)

Submitted(+1)

yep that makes sense, i'll give it another go with that in mind

LET'S GO! Got both endings. Very good game. I wish I could run because walking back and forth gets a bit boring, but everything else is SO GOOD. I found a bug where, if you hold 'E' while standing in front of a note, the game plays the sound repeatedly every frame. It's pretty funny.

Developer(+2)

I'm so glad you liked it!😁

I'll get to fixing that bug lol, and I'll likely add running in the full version👍

Very cool entry! Your game from last year stuck with me and this exceeded my expectations. It felt like you really managed to say a lot by saying very little, and the voice acting was great. The sound design was well suited, though occasionally seemed a little underutilized. One minor complaint is the light flickers attached to the enemy, while they are effective at first, after awhile they become a bit of a nuisance, especially when the enemy lurks near the edge of the screen while you're hiding.

I also managed to make it to the end without shooting, because it sure didn't seem I should be shooting that gun lol The animations were well suited for the atmosphere and narrative. Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much! That is so kind and really means so much to me🥹

Also for the flickering lights I will definitely be making it less frequent in the full version as well as adding/changing a lot of new things too as per the great feedback I've been getting😁

Really like your game Stefano. The one from last year was one of my favourite. This year I loved the "Silent Hill" vibes of the game. Very well done. Looking forward to see a full length horror game from you.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!🤩
It makes me so happy to hear you enjoy my games so much!🥹

Fun game. I managed to escape without using the gun. Definitely gave me a creepy vibe!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Congrats on getting the good ending😁

Got a small bug where my flashlight hand would get pulled towards the far left wall where ever I went.

Other then that I really liked the style, the movement was awkward but I actually think it added to the game! Big props to the voice acting as well, really clean and worked really well. Overall really enjoyable!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it😁

Also the flashlight is pulled in the direction of your mouse so you can aim it, I think your cursor might have just been on the left side of your screen lol

Submitted(+1)

Ah this could have easily happened. I'll give it another playthrough now! Really cool aesthetic!

I ended up getting stuck when the first monster showed up (prob a skill issue) but I really liked the aspect of hiding in lockers and I always love me a good horror puzzle game. Great work !!!

I'm glad you liked it 😁

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you loved it😁

As soon as I saw you could get in the lockers...

Developer

Truly horrifying🤣

The unique walking animations make the game creepy. Nice!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it😁

Good game. The atmosphere is scary. Art and sounds are good. It's cool that the monster sees the flashlight when it's on. The controls are unusual, but they feel unfinished. My character moved in jerks and sometimes stood still when changing direction abruptly. When you have to run away from the monster, it's especially scary :D.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it😁

I completed the game, and I think every aspect of it is fantastic and truly impressive.

Developer

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me, I appreciate it greatly 😄

very nice visuals, voice acting is well done! impressive work, i like the charm of the simple animations. in the beginning with the tutorial, i couldn't figure out a way to get rid of the tutorial text to read the first white eyeball icon as the tutorial text was displayed over that text.. great job! sound design is very good and the various fx add a nice level of polish

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it😁
As for getting rid of the tutorial text, it says at the bottom "Press TAB to toggle this text" lol

lol....... oops

Great art, 10/10 voice acting, amazing aesthetic and atmosphere. I only wish the walk was a tad smoother but since its not like the monster is much faster, its fine! I'm sure it was difficult to make a ragdoll animation like that, I sure couldn't. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much, I am so glad you liked it and I really appreciate all your kind words😁
Also yeah it was really hard to set that up lol, it took like 2 of the jam days alone just to set up walking to the right, especially because I used this game as a learning experience for that exact feature🤣

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Love the ragdoll walk. Really creepy and atmospheric, and very scary when I got caught. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! I 'm so glad you liked it😁

Best walk animation  I've seen so far.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, it's truly magical🤣

Really polished game! Love the spooky effects, especially the static when the player approaches the monster! Great atmosphere and story!!

Developer

Thank you so much! I put a lot of effort into the polish and atmosphere so it's really nice to see that recognized😁

The fact that we can’t see directly through the windows adds a touch of weight: the text gives free rein to our imagination! There’s something satisfying about the juicy effects of the monsters closing in on the player, killing the monster (I promise I didn’t do it the second time!) and the archaic movement of the characters. At any moment, I could have had another monster jumpscare out of a locked door haha. I like the sound detail at the end when we’ve decided to kill the “monster”.

I can’t really find any bad points, except that I’d have liked it to have lasted longer and that I sometimes get my feet stuck when I’m moving forward, which requires a little step backwards to unblock. No big deal.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Reading that made me so happy, I really appreciate all the kindness🤩

Very engaging and atmospheric game. Nice graphics and sound design, with text elements giving a sense of forboding. Good work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it😁

Developer

I just released another bug fix patch 😁👍

Submitted(+1)

I liked your game, the story looks horrible and the entity looks very Slenderman I really like the animation of your character when he walks, it looks like he's drunk lol

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad to hear you liked it!😁

I have a bad habit of making a lot of my game's stories very tragic🤣
