Whoof, getting that last stamp took an hour or two but it was a lot of fun. I think you balanced it just right. The facial expressions in particular are very fun and animated!!
I showed this to my partner and they said they had trouble following the arc of moving food, especially the egg because of how wiggly it is compared to the GBA version. A nice accessibility feature would be to reduce the wiggling and have the lanes more clearly marked, maybe have some vertical elements in the background art to hint at them?
I also found that in Modern mode it was difficult to judge the frying pan hitbox – a frequent frustration for me was that I’d hit myself in the head and have the food hit the ground at the same time, as though the food had phased through the pan. I think I’m actually just swinging a little too late, but it does feel like I shouldn’t be able to both hit and miss on the same swing, y’know? But I did beat it eventually.
All in all I think this is a wonderful little gem, and I’m actually really happy you used the original characters. I don’t believe you can “own” a character once they enter the cultural consciousness; they evolve into an archetype just like greek legends and such. I want to see more projects shamelessly embrace that non-ownership! Whatever happens happens, I suppose – but you made me smile and imagine a better world, and that’s a lot.
