Paper Ghost has done it again with their latest game, offering a unique and engaging experience. While it doesn't lean into the horror genre, it feels more like a dynamic version of tower defense, which keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.
The game feels great to play, with smooth mechanics and intuitive controls that make it genuinely enjoyable. However, I think the music could be more dynamic, especially given the house party setting. A soundtrack that evolves as time passes would greatly enhance the atmosphere and keep the energy alive.
One challenge I faced was distinguishing the body snatchers from the other characters. The only real clue was their ominous dial-up sound, which, while creepy, wasn’t always enough to identify them quickly. Making their bodily reactions more noticeable would definitely improve the gameplay and make these encounters more thrilling.
A fun feature to note is the "dog vision" mode. Don’t forget to turn it on for the full B movie experience! It adds a quirky charm to the game and is a delightful touch that fans of the genre will appreciate.
The game would also benefit from more sound effects during fights. Adding these would make the action scenes more immersive and impactful, bringing the combat to life in a way that’s currently missing.
Overall, Amaakir has crafted another excellent game, showcasing their creativity and skill in game development. Despite a few minor areas for improvement, this game is a testament to their ability to deliver fun and engaging experiences. I'm really looking forward to the next version of this release and seeing how they continue to innovate and refine their work.
