If you want an alternative to nails you can use the Pin Box. Whatever you pin will persist through save-loading, but they are incredibly weak, so you'll have to spam a ton of them to hold. It's not great for pinning things to other objects that you will move or that aren't anchored in some way, cause if you move them they'll all break off unfortunately.

I'm not aware if anybody has noticed or figured out how to properly perform it but you can build Diagonally with the wall builder but it's VERY DIFFICULT if not impossible to line up with whatever you're building.  You can use spheres at the point you'd want to build diagonally at or any flat object you could stick in place, and you have to zoom in and click at very specific spots. You can alternatively use wooden planks and angle them where you'd want to start at, usually this is easier but annoying in cramped spaces.

I have considered using pins, but they seem quite impractical especially for larger projects like the "shanty town" i mentioned earlier. They might be too fragile to really use efficiently, since too many pins might cause major lag and pins also have very similar programming to nails, so i'm not sure if i trust them staying together if i save and load. I am willing to try pins though, i just have some doubts

fuck, I was testing in sandbox just now and writing a reply and my dogshit laptop shut off lol

I'm too lazy to rewrite but,

They're not good, even after a save load unfortunately. I was pinning boards to a small structure I build with bricks and after a save load only one of them held. They don't cause any lag when placed in large amounts, when you move the object they're attached to and they begin to break, that's when there's a bit of lag.

yeah, that sucks, i think we might need to wait until a patch to be able to build anything that easily
the only idea i have left is to physically hold things in place with stuff that sticks to the wall like shelves and such, but that's a really niche use and wouldn't be able to be used on most projects

0.8.2b is some time soon, so we will have to see if this gets fixed.

Honestly, since it's decoration and not really anything big... I would just use the physgun and welder, cheating it in through the mailbox and converting your save. I really hope nails are fixed, or some alternative is added, like the Welder from the Sandbox menu... or glue could be used on smaller objects, being far weaker but still at least stable to attach points....

Hopefully The Developer Doesn't Feature Creep And Add 100 Different Things That Aren't fully Implemented And Won't Be Threshed Out For The Next Couple Of Updates, And Instead Fixes Existing Issues Or Mechanics  (°°)~

i don't believe the physgun and welder work after save and reloads, that's the thing
i was considering using the welder, but it says it causes major issues if you save and reload and i'm not gonna tempt fate on that. As for the physgun, i don't know if it's true anymore but if you reload, anything you freeze with the physgun unfreezes and falls anyway
