I tried out this game, and it mostly confuses me.

I can KIND OF see where this was going, but the execution really doesn't cut it for me, overall it's too rough.

  • +The story setup is fine and a good excuse to participate in a crawler.
  • +The treasure hunt minigame isn't a bad pace-breaker.
  • +The skills being based on an orientation is a cool idea.
  • -The game is so dark for no reason. it's already a black screen, why tint it dark on top? It just makes it hard to see.
  • -Even the battlers are just pitch dark figures. Why??
  • -The transfer from one map to the next is all wonky and blinks. Just fade out, prepare your map, then fade back in.
  • -Chests being on default "leave it" are a pain, and very easy to accidentally skip if you just try to click to pass the previous window.
  • -I'm not sure what the point of the slots for gather items is, and it feels pretty tacked on.
  • -Enemies barely do any damage and die in one hit, at least early on, so the pace is a bit off, even if later they get stronger.
  • -The  conveyance of the story and where we are is pretty bad. I thought we were already at the cave? And then I see some ex-soldier which I assumed was a memory, maybe? But AFTER that the witch joins me and THEN we go to the cave? What's happening?
  • -The happy music does not fit the presentation being all dark at all.

I feel like this is a proof of concept for a roguelike game, but honestly it's hard to see it as a finished game or even public demo. It didn't do much for me.
