Thanks for the passive aggressive reply, but you have no reason to be upset than annoyed. I am making a post on top of hundreds because that's the point of presenting a underlying issue that has 0 excuse to not be implemented. The admins may know about this feature request, but if that were true I doubt they would just sit on this for years while endlessly throwing up game-jam calendars or whatever they do (I clearly don't know, because they don't do anything. They can host games but can't code a blacklist search parameter. Ridiculous.)

Instead of making replies, like you have for years because I recognize you, maybe you should compile these hundreds of posts and send them in an email to make the point across that it's simply too difficult for users to sift through over 1,000,000 games just by tags alone.

Hope your day gets better, as I can tell I got under your skin even though it's your job. -Moozly

For people like me who play games at work to pass the 12 hour shift by, I can not download or do any rudementary methods besides blocking the adult content in my account and blocking 1 tag.

I don't need to ask for a feature when mods have been telling us roundabout ways to fix such a simple solution for years and even said themselves to follow an 8 year old post that is now defunct.

When I log in, I can use the method I said above to bypass ONE (1) tag, not multiple. Plus this is not helpful for people who just want to play games and not have to seek out these methods and learn how to properly utilize these methods, like casual gamers or older audiences who aren't adept with url extensions or introductory website knowledge.

An answer from 2017 that has a solution that no longer works. Please consider my options I have given here: Why don't admins relay to whoever made them staff that we need an exclude tag option? - Questions & Support - itch.io

Also, with over 1.02 MILLION GAMES you would think an exclusion option would take priority, especially when it is a highly requested topic. If there are lots, and lots, and lots of discussions about this, then maybe it's an issue that needs to be taken with a higher priority as many of your users and developers are asking this simple addition of your sites developers. Instead of a roundabout answer, you should take the time to send this and all the other requests to someone higher up than waste time telling us a solution that all of us have seen and tried before, as it is the one of the first three search results on google if you search, "Itchio exclude tags" or "how to exclude tags on itchio".

I understand that there is probably a path your team is taking to make additions to the site, but it takes 1-2 people and a few lines of code to alter a search result. and if/then/else statement could be made as an idea, but idk

(1 edit)

We keep getting recommended to use the, "?exclude=tg." to avoid seeing certain games but this does not work. I have read so many posts now where we get recommended to use these roundabout methods, but why take the time to search, find, and learn how to exclude games when it should be an option in the first place.

We either need a blacklist tag attached to our accounts or an exclude tag option next to the search bar.

It doesn't make sense how Itch hasn't implemented this while they have 1,020,000+ games; It's too much to search through, especially with the top games being flooded with horror, visual novels, or the same story LGBT games while you are not logged in. While I am at work I can't find a game to play unless I endlessly scroll past all those aforementioned games, which takes ~10 minutes of looking for any changes that day to the top games section.

I am not homophobic, but I have played 3 different gay, lgbt, lgbtqia games and was disappointed with their stories as they all had the same, "coming out" narrative.

I don't want to see any of those games until I feel like searching for a better story or unless I get an announcement of a new game off-site. For now I don't feel like playing visual novels and/or gay games, but can't exclude tags without using a roundabout method that doesn't work btw. Stop recommending us to add extensions to the url mods/admins. We can't exclude anything unless YOU implement it to your site. (which should have been done ages ago, itch is far behind. Newgrounds is old as dirt and has exclude tags, Gamejolt has exclude tags, Steam)

Scroll to the bottom of the page. At the bottom left there is a "report" button. Fill out the applicable reasonings so that staff can take action.

After your game is finished it'll be on a black screen. Just click the inside of the black screen.

After refreshing about 5 times I got the game to boot to the menu. So this works for me.

1. Wait until your bar is "frozen"

2. Refresh your page (CTRL + R)

3. Repeat back to step 1.
