First off, just want to thank Moonwriter's Tale for reaching out to let me know about PROJECT: LOVE + CAFE. Always love to try people's games out!
So this game is a collection of scenes from people's lives. Snippets of interactions between characters that explore their relationships, their goals and their feelings.
I played the first two Acts, and there was a lot to like. The character designs and reactions are really fun, and there's a nice dose of humour running throughout the stories we encounter. The direction is really smooth, small things like characters walking to other sections of a scene or moving closer to interact with someone really emphasise the atmosphere.
There are occasions when the plot is hard to follow, however, and I know this is something Moonwriter's Tale has mentioned specifically. I lost what was happening in the discussions a few times whilst playing, and I was left unsure of the two characters from Act 2's relationship by the end of the scene.
That being said, it was a fun experience and I learned a lot about Filipino food, geography and culture whilst playing, which is a big bonus as far as I'm concerned! I know Moonwriter's Tale has stated that their intention is not to look into revisiting this game, but if they ever do it would be great if they could hook up with someone to help with the English translation to keep the story flowing more smoothly.
Really well put together game on the whole though! Good stuff =)
