October is here, Halloween is coming, and we have a slew of exciting game jams. From horror-themed challenges to music composition and procedural generation. Here are some upcoming jams to keep your eyes on, plus a few recently ended ones below.
The biggest horror game jam returns with SCREAM JAM 2024! This event encourages both beginner and experienced game developers to embrace the spooky season. With no particular theme, participants can explore all forms of horror, from interactive fiction to role-playing games. The jam runs from October 16 to October 23, with a voting period from October 23 to October 30.

Compose a musical sketch using a given musical element in this unique twist on the OST Composing Jam. Participants are challenged to develop their ideas around a specific provided element, pushing the boundaries of creativity within a limited framework. The jam runs from October 18 to October 20, with a voting period until October 27. Submit your original recordings and imagine the game your soundtrack complements.
PROCJAM - the Procedural Generation Jam - is all about making things that make things. Whether it’s a game with procedural generation or an interactive art tool, this jam is laid-back and welcoming to newcomers. Running from October 25 to November 4, PROCJAM encourages you to use existing code and art, work in teams or alone, and take your time.
Celebrate the anniversary of LSD: Dream Emulator by creating an interactive experience based on dreams. LSDJAM 2024 runs from October 21 to March 1, offering plenty of time to craft your dream emulator. Explore a world of surreal dreamscapes.
The Spooktober Visual Novel Jam celebrated its 6th year with a month-long event from September 1 to October 1. Participants created Halloween-themed visual novels, with public voting running throughout October. With 272 submissions and 1487 participants, this jam was a massive success. Coffee lovers united for the Coffee Jam 2024, which ran from September 20 to October 1. Participants created games centered around coffee, with a special theme “sea” announced at the start of the jam. The jam saw 47 submissions, check out the results to see the top entries.
