Well, folks. I've some moderately unfortunate news. Don't worry, I'm not scrapping the project! But I am slowing down production of the game.
Admittedly, I seem to have come to the point of game development in what is known as "the dip", in where you've lost some effort to make the game but you haven't 100% given up on it, yet you lack the ability to progress on it? It happens to all game devs in at least one point of their lives, and I am no exception.
You know, a solo dev attempting to make a feature-length game with fairly intermediate spriting skills, inexperience with code scripting, no creative writing and who's not a brilliant mapper was bound to let this happen at some point in game development. 馃槄
In any case, I won't go as far as scrapping Final Fantasy Friendship—far from it! But it looks like I will either shelve this project and return to it, OR what I can do is make the game as a super-linear, simple straight line with very little storyline dialoguing where you'd just fight monsters within a horizontal boundary. If I were to do the latter, that at least would provide a, um, a "minimum viable product", I think it's called.
Anyway, I sincerely apologize for my lack of creative talents to be able to create more content this far. Hopefully making things more simple in the future would get me out of this slump I'm battling. If I can at least do that from start-to-finish, maybe it won't be so hard to fill in the blanks.
Thank you for still downloading and playing the latest version of Final Fantasy Friendship and, with hope and luck, even a much more simpler release will be made available.
