Dev Log: Progress on Our Kiri Game Jam Project

Hey everyone!

We’re excited to give you an update on our survival-horror narrative game for the Kiri game jam! This project focuses on the tense and emotional dynamic between a 911 dispatcher and a frantic woman trapped in a dire situation. The game explores themes of communication, trust, and the weight of choices in a life-or-death scenario—all from the dispatcher’s POV.

Progress So Far

We’re making steady progress, and things are coming together:

  1. Voice Acting
    • Our voice actors are scheduled to record this week, and their performances have already brought so much depth and intensity to the story during previews. The interaction between the dispatcher and the caller is the heart of this game, and the emotional weight they bring is nothing short of incredible.
  2. Game Assets
    • All necessary assets for the game’s interface and environment have been acquired, including an immersive UI design that puts players in the shoes of a 911 dispatcher. The environment is built around what the dispatcher hears—sound cues, a ringing phone, muffled screams—and players must rely on these auditory details to guide the story.
  3. Gameplay Development
    • The branching-choice mechanics are fully implemented, offering multiple paths and 5 ENDINGS.
    • We’re refining the dialogue pacing to maintain tension and ensure that the stakes feel high at every turn.
  4. Excitement for the Deadline
    • With the jam deadline fast approaching, our team is working hard to polish the game’s emotional beats, mechanics, and overall experience. 3 days to go!!

What’s Next?

  • Testing and Tweaking: We’ll be running extensive tests on all dialogue branches to make sure they flow logically and deliver the emotional punch we’re aiming for.
  • Final Audio Integration: Once the voice acting is recorded, we’ll add it into the game and balance it with the sound effects and ambient noises.
  • Polishing Visual Elements: Enhancing the UI, fine-tuning the dispatcher’s interface, and adding small immersive details to make the player feel like they’re truly in the hot seat.

We’re so excited about how this game is shaping up, and we can’t wait to share the final product with you. Every member of the team has poured their heart into this project, and we hope it’ll leave players on the edge of their seats.

Stay tuned for more updates as we head into the final stretch!
