TL;DR: My 2025 is all about figuring out my processes, building my skill through tight mini-game releases, and cultivating a real community around these dumb projects.
Okay, so I, like many creative people, may face the demon too many ideas, too little follow through from time to time. In fact, somewhere in 2023 I reached a point where I was completely fed up with myself and my own BS. So last year, I set out to answer the two big questions that were plaguing me: Can I actually finish what I start? and What happens if I just... show up and share my work?
With reckless abandon and very little thought, I threw myself into a few shows — the Sac Gaming Expo, East Bay Zine Fest, and SoCal Retro Gaming Expo — because, honestly, I needed deadlines and a little social pressure. And, you know what, it worked. Who knew that deadlines could be helpful? I actually got things done because I had to. MeetCute got its moment in the spotlight in Sac. I unleashed a pile of zines on the world at Zine Fest. King Salmon made its big debut in SoCal.
And people even kind of liked my work. Not everyone, but enough. So many strangers and friends gave me support and encouragement and it warmed my heart.
And I learned - seriously, I leveled up as a developer. I'm still an art-first dev at heart (afterall, I got into this game to show my art in new ways), but I'm not exclusively art now. I'm so much better at coding and game design than I was this time last year (thanks in large part to my Discord code reviewers, popcar2 and raiseledwards, who patiently guided me through my many mistakes and confusions. Thanks for helping me figure stuff out!)
So since my guiding questions were a very positive influence on me and my work last year, I decided to focus on a few new questions to set my course for 2025:
I don’t have a perfectly laid-out plan for how to answer all these, but they’re my guiding questions for the year.
What will I be sharing here? Reflections on my process, revisions to my approach, dev jam sessions, and all the random problems I’m chewing on. You’re invited to join me for all the chaos — I'd love to have your company along the way and I promise it'll be entertaining.

To other devs - how do you set your game dev plans for the year? What big questions or big goals are you pondering for 2025?
