oh! new universe!

so what's up with zephyr star?

if you follow me elsewhere, you probably know already-- the project's not DEAD per se, but it's kind of on hold for an indeterminate amount of time.

it was very ambitious... it needs some big changes before i start to work on it again

in the meantime, ive started a new project. a smaller scale project, sort of?

it's not a game, really. well, it is a game, but that's not all of it...

this is some (admittedly outdated) test footage of a game i've been working on called 'til countdown's end. if you follow me on tumblr or bluesky, you know this-- it's a speed-focused 2d platformer that's specifically meant to be a super short game that you can re-play over and over

but, while that project is still going strong, i had a thought: i'm too ambitious with my projects. they always need to have deep narratives or complex gameplay... i forgot that i can just make something stupid and small. right?  i can make a game that isn't special...

that was my new years resolution; to make stupid tiny baby games that i can release on itch.io

that's essentially what this game is for. the 'til countdown's end universe-- i'm calling it "Somewhere"-- is basically just a vessel for me to create many small, loosely connected things. games, stories, whatever the heck i want... the characters are like the cast of a sitcom and the setting is infinitely versatile

and the way i'm launching that universe into motion is... not really a game...

it's a webcomic, actually!

if you mosey on over to https://melody-sy.neocities.org, you can read it... its nothing impressive yet, there's only two pages and i have yet to introduce most of the characters... but as it continues, i'll probably build up a backlog of comics-- and a universe i can continue to build off of through other mediums. that's my plan, at least.......

(if you want to know when it updates, you can also follow the comic's bluesky and tumblr, linked in the about tab :3)

anyway, that's all i wanted to say...

seeya around :)

I'm glad you're trying this approach! I've been making smaller games on here for a while and it's worked well for me so far. Connecting them in the same world is smart and should let you get a lot out of these characters. Good luck this year, very excited to play one of these!
