Today marks the first day of NaNoRenO this year, so it's time to share what I've spent the past several days obsessing over and will spend the next several days working on!
I started this game to make something near and dear to me. I'm still indecisive about how I want to share a major aspect of the game, so for now... I'll just tell you all that there's more to the game than what it seems to be on the surface level!
The name of the game is Divided in Depth, which I'll explain more about later in the post!
I actually have a real location for this game, which I don't think I've ever done before, hahahah!
Anyway, get ready to go to Kirkwall, Orkney in my upcoming title!!
Why did I choose a random town in Scotland for the setting? I dunno! I just wanted a setting that I didn't have to create from nothing.
The protagonist is gonna be like in Robo Otto and Ellis: The Anxious Lion, where they're basically a named self-insert for the player.
That's because... this story is all about Remy!!
As you can see, Remy is a shy lil nerd boi!! A classic Lil' Beastman archetype.
I think he's best described as being shy and neurotic... as well as secretive! Much like the game he stars in, Remy has secrets! Secrets that you can only find out by gaining his trust.
I really want to get this game made in time for the deadline, so I'm focusing on keeping the plot straightforward and cozy.
Remy likes the you and is trying to figure out how to confess to you, or if he even should. It'll be up to you if your actions encourage him or discourage him!
This relates to why the game is called Divided in Depth, because you and Remy seem to be divided by how strongly you feel about each other.
The plot will take place over one day, since the emphasis is on what happens between you and Remy!
Will it be a very happy day or a very sad day?
After a rendition or two of the UI, this is the current concept I have for Divided in Depth!
(That's canon btw don't force-feed Remy 3 liters of vodka)
Currently, I have goals like this that I hope to achieve in 30 days:
The minimum I want is 2,000 words, but considering that a single scene I wrote for fun was 500 words, the game may have to be longer than that...
I also want a few endings and BGMs for extra emotional expression!!
And that's about everything that I can disclose here! Divided in Depth will be a short love story about Remy Wilson.
My hope is that by keeping the scope small, I can focus on quality rather than quantity.
For several reasons, it's very important that I get this game made. I know I've said that before, so I understand if you think it'll end up like my other projects... But all I can do is my best, and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
