This is my first choice to play, because it's a setting that I think we would all vibe with, it works for the group size, and it's popular enough that you can find content to get a feel for it. There's also a free intro module we can play if you just want to try it out.
This is a more minimalist game that relies on story telling. It would be fun if you wanted to try something that pushes the gameplay boundaries of an RPG while having a DnD like setting
This is essentially a DnD clone, but is more designed to replicate old-school TTRPGs. PbtA meets OSR.Mechanically similar to Monster of the Week. Doesn't have much of it's own content, but we could adapt existing DnD modules.
Lots of content on this one online, a cozy, peaceful, story-based game, I own this, but it's so minimalist that it almost stops being a game. Sort of the flagship Belonging Outside Belonging game right now.
Super-minimalist game inspired by Star Trek, this would probably be more fun for a single session. It has a free, one-page PDF for the rules, so you could download and read the rules yourself.
Same designer as Venture, similar game, just more based around Star Wars. If you wanted to try Belonging Outside Belonging, but with a non-fantasy setting, this would be fun.
I haven't looked too far into this one, but it has a fantasy setting, and works well all the way down to solo/co-op play, so people really recommend it for 2+1 gameplay. Might be another good option if you're looking for something more similar to DnD.
This is a more complex, crunchier system, with a sci-fi setting heavy on mechs. If you want something with more game-like combat, this might be a good one.
Similar to Monster of the Week, just saw this today bundled with THE MARTIAL CULT OF BLOOD KNIGHT GAIUS
More of an OSR inspired dungeon crawl, so it would have a lot more combat.
