Assistant Teaching Professor - Game Art - 077310

 

The Department of Film and Media Arts within the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University seeks an artist with significant game production experience for a full-time non-tenure track teaching professor in game art and/or 3D computer graphics beginning August 2024. The position offers a 3-year renewable contract, based on exemplary performance and University need.

 

Housed in a tier-one research university, the well-established computer art and animation program, founded in 1980, offers both BFA and MFA degrees. The ideal candidate will be a production-oriented computer artist with a deep knowledge base in game development, who will bring expertise in curricular development. Candidates with a strong emphasis in 3D animation production and teaching experience are also encouraged to apply.

 

This position supports a 3/3 teaching load subject to enrollment and departmental need. Service includes curriculum development for game design and related coursework.

 

The school is actively seeking candidates who offer fresh perspectives, who value equity and inclusion, who incorporate marginalized voices and perspectives into their pedagogy, and who have experience mentoring students of diverse identities.

 

The Department of Film and Media Arts is a major academic center for the education of media arts professionals. Our programs offer students rewarding studio experiences in well-equipped facilities, simultaneously integrated with rigorous academic studies and challenging curricula in media arts history as well as comprehensive and diverse theory and contemporary issue courses. The department comprises three BFA and three MFA programs in Art Photography, Computer Art and Animation, and Film with 16 full-time faculty, approximately 300 undergraduate, and 30 graduate students.
