How Rating Works

In the game jam, each judge will provide a rating for each game in each category, using a scale from 0 to 10. These individual scores from all judges in a specific category will then be averaged out to determine the game's final score in that category. This averaging process ensures that the game's performance in each category reflects a consensus among the judges, balancing out individual variances in scoring. Finally, to determine the grand champion, the averaged scores from all categories for each game will be summed up. The game with the highest total score across all categories, reflecting its overall excellence and balanced performance across all judging criteria, will be declared the grand champion.

1. Most Creative Interpretation of the Theme

Judges assess how uniquely and creatively the game integrates the jam's theme. This includes innovative ways the theme is woven into gameplay, narrative, and visual elements.

2. Best Gameplay and Mechanics

This category evaluates the game's core mechanics, focusing on functionality and originality. Judges look at the engagement level of the gameplay loop, the intuitiveness of controls, and the overall player experience.

3. Best Artistic Design

The game's aesthetic appeal is judged here, including graphical assets, environment design, and visual storytelling. Key factors are the cohesion and style of the game's art.

4. Best Sound Design and Music

Judges review the effectiveness of the game's soundscapes, including the quality of music tracks, the appropriateness of sound effects, and their contribution to the game's atmosphere.

5. Best Technical Achievement

This category recognizes games that show exceptional technical skill. This could be through impressive AI, seamless performance, innovative technology use, or pushing developmental boundaries within the jam's constraints.

6. Best Game Concept or Idea

7. Grand Champion and Best Game
