The main theme is "Doors"!
The secondary theme is "Grave-ity" and the tertiary theme is "The game menu is the first level"!
No theme is imperatives, their main goal is to inspire you, but be aware that one of the voting criteria is the respect of the themes.
Make sure to join our Discord server to communicate with other participants before, during and after the jam, find partners and stay up to date on the progress of the event.
We are very flexible about the rules, we think you are smart enough to set your own rules to be proud of your creation and have a good time. Jam Spamming (submit your game to several unrelated jams for the purpose of getting players to play it) is forbidden by the rules of Itch.io, and therefore by the jam. If we consider your entry suspicious, we will contact you. If you've done Jam Spamming, we will delete your entry page, ban you from the jam and discord, and report you and your game to Itch.io.
That being said, we strictly refuse any opressive content (racial or sexist discrimination, homophobia, ...). If your game is NSFW, it is imperative to clearly indicate it on the Game Jam page and if possible, in a splash screen. Otherwise, we try to keep the environment as family friendly as possible. If you violate either of these two rules, we will contact you and we reserve the right to remove your game from the Jam.
Keep in mind that we're here to create games in good mood :)
At the request of several of you, we have decided to establish votes and a ranking. Here are the voting criteria:
- Gameplay
- Respect of the themes
- Graphics
- Sound environment (including original music if there is)
This ranking should not especially be seen as a goal, it is complementary to the Jam. Anyone with an itch.io account will be able to vote for the criteria for uploaded games and leave comments. We will invite you to do the same for the other games, it's a great part of the Game Jam for us to find out what others have created.
You can upload your game at any time during the 101 hours. If your game is in a folder with data files, compress it into a .ZIP or .RAR file. If your creation is not computer based (card game, RP game, ...) upload a pdf with the instructions or put them directly on the itch.io page.
If you are late in your upload for good reasons, contact the staff via Discord and we will do what we can to help you.
“One of the most exciting things I experienced during a Jam was creating my game while watching a streamer that was also participating in the Jam.” - PrinceZeechan, a long-time jammer. If you are a Streamer and would like to participate and be advertised here and on the Discord server, please contact us!
