  • The story of Bluebell had potential, but as the game progressed it just got more convoluted until I was left wondering what on Earth was going on. The only choice in the game bugged out where it cycled through all the options, culminating into unfinished material at the end of the game where there was literally no text.

  • This entry has really polished presentation and some nice UI features.  The story, music and visuals are good, but for me there is too much reading and too little puzzling to really enjoy it.  Also seems to have dead ends (intended by design) and I came across a bug when text was replaced by coloured bars for a bit (this righted itself on game restart though).  If you like visual novel style games with a horror theme, you'll probably get quite a bit of enjoyment out of Bluebell.  (Horror is not my thing but the tension and atmosphere seem well crafted to me.)

  • Love the cool background music on this. The graphics are good too. It was an interesting game to play.

On the other side, I felt there were several chances for player interaction that the story railroaded through instead of giving the player any agency. There were always just a few things to click on and the really important decisions were made by the character without the player having any say. The only actual decision we are given until the very end is which direction to go, which inexplicably determines which student follows you and there is not enough information to make an informed choice about the potential consequences of each path. The very last decision may have a bug in it, I'm not sure though. The first playthrough, I was ONLY given the option of saying "nothing" and the second playthrough with the other student, I was given three options, but no matter which one I chose, It played all 3 in a row without stopping.
