Top down racers are perhaps one of the most underappreciated game genres, today we are launching the 16-bit Top Down Racing Dev Comp.
With this awful Coronavirus going around we thought about running a dev comp, with the aim to give some of you a challenge to sink your teeth into over the coming weeks and months and perhaps somewhere to escape it all, so here we go.
The challenge is simple, create a top down view racer style game, it can be on land, sea or air. Let your imagination run wild and create the next big thing in top down racers, the game must be compatible with 16-bit hardware, we are talking about the Amiga 500, the Atari ST, the only stipulation is that your game meets the rules as set out below.
1. Your game must be your own work and it must be original. (Reuse ofimagery and sounds will be permitted but you must inform us when submitting your entry)
2. Submissions must be in the form of a disk image (or images) playable on both emulated and real hardware.
3. You game can be for any 16-bit computer. (Amiga 500, 1200, 1Mb, AGA, Atari ST/e and so on) judges will consider appropriate use of resources when scoring.
4. The competition will last 6 months from the official start date, and final submissions must be made by 23:59 UTC on the last day.
This Bitmap Soft competition claims no ownership, licencing or distribution rights, which belong to their respective owners.
By submitting a game, you agree to allow us to promote and discuss the entry for purposes of the competition only.
The winner will be based on the best game for the Amiga and the ST and a winner overall.
Donations are welcomed for the prize fund.
Winners will be awarded a Trophy, an option to have their game published on Bitmap Soft and a share of the below.
They will also get a share of any prize money, minimum share of £100 and it will be shared as:
