CREATE GAMES NEEDING JUST TWO BUTTONS TO BE PLAYED!!!
Didn't you ask for "one button" games already?
Yes! The 1-Button Jam is here : https://itch.io/jam/1-button-jam-2019
And there probably won't be a "three buttons" jam :p I just think that "one button" and "two buttons" games are two interesting way to make games playable by a majority of people. Not everyone can use a gamepad or a mouse!
So... BACK TO THE ALL CAPS!!
1. BECAUSE SOMETIMES ONE BUTTON IS NOT ENOUGH
2. BECAUSE THOSE GAMES WILL STILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO MANY PEOPLE
3. BECAUSE THREE BUTTONS ARE WAY TOO MUCH
4. BECAUSE WE CAN
ONE RULE TO BIND THEM ALL: TWO BUTTONS TO PLAY, AS IN "ONLY TWO BUTTONS". It's NOT left, right, up, down "and" two action buttons. It's NOT "mouse move" and its usual two buttons. It's litterally JUST TWO buttons.
I guess you got it by now.
Also, YOU CAN WORK ALONE OR AS A TEAM! You may want to use crowdforge for that. And/or come and discuss about it on the itch.io forum or on the jam discord (link below).
Here are the themes for this jam:
ARM
COMET
ROPE
You may use one or several of them to inspire you. If you don't, that's fine too.
COS' WE'RE READY TO ROCK THE WORLD!!
WELL, YOU CAN...
By following those optional guidelines:
A. Even the menus of your game can be used with only two buttons (easyyyyyyyy).
B. Your game has good contrast and can be used by colorblind people.
C. There's almost no text in your game, to make it playable by people from all over the world!
D. It's possible to play your game online (it could have an online and an offline version).
E. There's a MuLTIPLaYeR mode in your game!!!!!! Coop or versus... as long as it's two buttons per player.
F. The game has difficulty settings! Two buttons games can be really easy to play or very challenging. It's up to you! But if there's a way to customize the difficulty level, it's even better.
G. Any new rule or guideline you may add to make your game easily playable. You may want to browse the wonderful "game accessibility guidelines" website here: http://gameaccessibilityguidelines.com/
Yeah, thank you for considering a participation in this game jam!
GO, PEOPLE, AND MAKE WORTHY GAMES. And unworthy ones, too. It's still a good way to learn.
