Welcome to the second annual North Carolina Collegiate Game Jam, hosted by the Game Development Club at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! This jam is open to all students attending college in North Carolina, and all skill levels and team sizes are welcome!
The game jam will start on October 14th at noon EST. with the announcement of the optional theme. Then students will have 9 days to create a unique game from scratch! Submissions are due on October 22nd at 9:00 PM EST. This jam is longer, because we know getting time to work on games while being a full time student is tough. Work whenever you have time, and don't feel pressured to spend the entire jam period making your game! (In fact, please don't! Get your work done!!)
Optional:
All students attending collegiate education in North Carolina are able to participate in this jam. (Graduate students are welcome too!)
You can either participate solo in the game jam, or with other students. No restrictions on team size.
Most people participating in this game jam will be new to game development! So it is not just okay to follow YouTube tutorials, it is encouraged! But one thing is important: the majority of the content of your game must be made by you/your team, and during the 9 day jam.
After the jam ends, play other submissions and rate them! Additionally, leave comments on each submissions! We want to foster a positive, constructive community for this game jam.
Community voting will based on the following categories:
Note: there are prizes, but they are only available to students enrolled in UNC Chapel Hill. Winning teams will be selected by a vote amongst the officers and junior officers of the Game Dev Club. More info for that will be communicated through the UNC CH Game Dev Discord.
Oh, and of course: anything that you make during the game jam is 100% your intellectual property to own.
