Welcome to the Official 2D Game Jam - Mini. A monthly 2D mini jam with a shorter scope and duration compared to the official 2D Game Jam.

This is a 5 day game development event specifically designed to celebrate the art and craft of 2D game development.

Participation in the 2D Game Jam is open to everyone, regardless of skill level or background. Here are the key details for participating:

Who Can Participate: 

- Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate developer, or a seasoned pro, you are welcome to join. This jam is a great opportunity for learning, growth, and showcasing your talents.

Team Size: 

- You can participate as a solo developer or form a team with up to three members. Collaborate with others to combine your strengths and create something truly unique.

Original Content: 

- Game assets including but not limited to art, sound and music, animation etc. must be either self made, or a free asset + credit in the description of your game to the creator. Paid assets are not allowed.

Creation Time-frame: 

- It is okay to start coming up with ideas for the game and concept for the design and art/music, however do your best majority of the game creation to be done within the Jam period. 

Tools: 

-Any and every engine is acceptable as long as you can export it as html to be played in browser, or exe to be played as downloadable file. Any music/art tools are allowed.

Multi-jamming:

-Posting the same game on more than 2 jams(including this one) will get you disqualified. Same goes for linking a steam page for your already made game and using the jam as a promotion for your personal gain.

Your game will be evaluated based on several important criteria. This ensures a fair and comprehensive assessment of all entries:

• Graphics: The visual quality and artistic creativity of your game. 
• Sound: The quality and effectiveness of the audio elements, including music, sound effects, and voice acting. 
• Mechanics: The functionality and innovation of your game's mechanics. Are the controls intuitive and responsive.
• Game Feel: The overall enjoyment and immersion of the game. Is it fun to play.
• Innovation: The creativity and originality displayed in your game.
• Theme Integration: How well does your game incorporate and interpret the given theme.

While the primary goal of the 2D Game Jam is to foster creativity and community, we also have some exciting rewards for the winners:

• Publishing Opportunity: If your game is promising, has potential and it looks scalable to a full steam game size, we might assist you with publishing it on Steam once the development completes. We will cover all associated costs, providing you with a fantastic opportunity to bring your game to a wider audience.
