Welcome to the Official 2D Game Jam, a premier event dedicated exclusively to the creation of 2D games.
This is a 10 day game development event for which the gates open on the 21st of June until the 30th of June. After this development period, the voting begins!
This jam is specifically designed to celebrate the art and craft of 2D game development.

Participation in the 2D Game Jam is open to everyone, regardless of skill level or background. Here are the key details for participating:
Who Can Participate:
- Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate developer, or a seasoned pro, you are welcome to join. This jam is a great opportunity for learning, growth, and showcasing your talents.
Team Size:
- You can participate as a solo developer or form a team with up to three members. Collaborate with others to combine your strengths and create something truly unique.
Registration:
- Each team member must be registered as a contributor on the itch.io game page for your entry. This ensures that everyone who worked on the game is properly credited.
Submission:
- All game submissions must be made through the itch.io platform. Make sure your game is properly uploaded and accessible to the judges and other participants.
Original Content:
- All game assets, including graphics, sound, and code, must be created by the participants during the jam period. Using pre-made or purchased assets is not allowed, to ensure a fair and level playing field.
Creation Time-frame:
- All content must be created during the jam. Any assets or game elements created prior to the start of the jam are not permitted.
Tools:
-Any and every engine is acceptable as long as you can export it as html to be played in browser, or exe to be played as downloadable file. Any music/art tools are allowed.
Your game will be evaluated based on several important criteria. This ensures a fair and comprehensive assessment of all entries:
- Graphics: The visual quality and artistic creativity of your game.
- Sound: The quality and effectiveness of the audio elements, including music, sound effects, and voice acting.
- Mechanics: The functionality and innovation of your game's mechanics. Are the controls intuitive and responsive.
- Game Feel: The overall enjoyment and immersion of the game. Is it fun to play.
- Innovation: The creativity and originality displayed in your game.
- Theme Integration: How well does your game incorporate and interpret the given theme.
While the primary goal of the 2D Game Jam is to foster creativity and community, we also have some exciting rewards for the winners:
- Special Discord Role: The winning team will be awarded a unique role in our Discord server, giving you recognition and prestige within our community.
- Publishing Opportunity: If your game is promising, has potential and it looks scalable to a full steam game size, we might assist you with publishing it on Steam. We will cover all associated costs, providing you with a fantastic opportunity to bring your game to a wider audience.
