the slider minigame was the highlight for me
maybe this was just me, but it was hard to see anything without the flashlight
(reposting my comment from the jam submission page since this game is criminally underrated and has no reviews. Also because I don't know how itch.io's review system works)
WOW! I did not expect to play such a well polished game in this game jam!
This felt like a legitimate JRPG and was actually really fun to play. I'm surprised how well everything worked and how little jank there was.
I had a blast battling and leveling up and I even looked forward to the random encounters. My only real issue with the game was the balancing. The random encounters took too long because the enemies had way too much health. I think you should have made the monsters in the first map really easy to kill and then increased the difficulty the further along you got.
The final boss was also really well done. The short intro sequence and the unique 3 head mechanic really stood out. I liked how I was able to reason that I should kill the extra heads before attacking the main one to mitigate the damage I was taking.
You guys made an awesome game in such a short amount of time and you could take this in any direction. Turn it into a full blown JRPG, or keep the Christmas theme and just stretch it out, make the journey to kill the Mouse King more intricate and fulfilling.
Awesome work
