  • (Post-7DRL version review.) In its current state, this submission is not only beatable, but feels superior to quite of the few of the completed entries. While hexagonal movement is already unusual in roguelikes, it is hardly unique: however, this game combines it with auto-fire, so your goal is not to try and bump into the enemies to defeat them but the opposite: you need to always stay at enough distance to prevent robots closing in and dealing damage, but also not so far away that your spaceman can no longer auto-target them. If you can keep them in the right zone, though, than your character can even deal damage to multiple targets a turn simultaneously - which is only fair, considering just how often they spawn just inside the fog of war. Sometimes they spawn outside of it, too - I once had a robot spawn in a tile I just moved away from, which clearly shows continued balance is necessary. Nevertheless, the gameplay here is both unusual and just challenging enough, the SFX is just right and the visuals are easily readable, with animations brief enough to enliven the proceedings without delaying the gameplay, as more advanced animations tend to do. In all, a promising entry that could do with a proper title and even more polish!
