This is a casual game jam intended to encourage development for the original Intel 8086 processor that grandfathered the majority of the last 40 years of desktop computing. Submissions should work on real hardware but the only limitation is the assembled machine code must be limited to your basic 8086 architecture (8087 math co-processor is also 100% acceptable).

Games can be written to run on DOS as a .EXE or a .COM file or run as an old school booter disk.

Any graphics modes are fair game, same with any sound or network support. Data files are permitted but total package size should not exceed 1.4 megabytes.

Rules:
  • No 186/286/386 etc instructions allowed.
  • Games submitted can be in any language.
  • Games submitted can be in any stage of development.
  • Games submitted can be listed at any price point.
  • Games submitted can be designed to use any hardware, retro or modern.
  • Include content warnings on the game's page if your game includes any material that could be considered adult or sensitive.
  • Bigoted content of any kind is not allowed and will be removed from the jam.
