Very solid game. Wish the slide and uppercut were just something like down and attack instead of a button motion since it can take some time getting used to (in fact I didn't know they were in the game until I read the comments. Power ups are also random so with the right one a section could be easy but without it much harder. Parrying is cool but felt unrewarding a lot of the time since reflected projectiles don't travel far so they may not hit. Overall movement felt like it had too much weight in everything you did. The game felt like a mix of Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden. You had a lot of movement moves at your disposal (ninja gaiden), but all of them had significant lag or lowered move speed to the point where it was more beneficial to cautiously approach things and then move back and attack (Castlevania). The parry and sluggishness of moves felt most apparent in the boss who is much faster than you and shoots multiple projectiles that while you can parry, can harm you if you mess up or not even reach the boss on success. Especially since as the player you can only mess up 5 times, and the boss has about 5 times the health than the you, it feels more like an endurance/patience test than a challenge. You never really got the fluid sense of movement you'd expect from a ninja. But that's more personal taste. The pixel art is beautiful and the animation gave life to the characters. Soundtrack set the scene perfectly as well. Overall very solid game. I had a few hiccups with it's design, but its a very solid experience overall.
