Inspired by Game Maker's Toolkit Designing for Disability Series, I decided to host a game jam once a month for accessibility focused features.
Accessibility in Tech is extremely important. It's a common place thing that those who don't need to think about often don't. The goal of this monthly jam series is to draw awareness to needs in accessibility that can help both players and designers have a better experience.
The goal of this game jam is to get designers thinking about accessibility features to their own games and "dream projects". This can be everything from hearing and visually impaired, to the sensory overload issues that those on the Autism, Asperger's, and ADHD spectrums experience. The goal is to add a feature to a game you've already submitted, or create a new game, and make the feature you add obvious.
Because this kind of feature may require some research, you have two weeks to find information that will help you.
Accessibility to be focused on: Sensory Overload Issues
THE RULES
1. You may submit any game you've previously submitted, provided it matches the month's accessibility feature focus. If you want to make a new one? That's cool too. You can even submit a larger "dream" project you're working on, if it matches the accessibility feature of the month.
2. The submission must have a feature that addresses the accessibility theme of the month. Your submission will be disqualified if it does not have that. A short write up on the submission page is nice, but not necessary. It is ideal if the feature can be found in an options menu of your game.
3. You can use any game engine and submission form you'd like. The more systems the game is playable on, the better, but if you use an engine that you can only port to one system, that is okay too.
