- Love the submission page with the alt text and photo descriptions, The TTS sometimes went into overdrive overlapping instructions I personally didn't like the art style but loved it's use in a RTS if that makes sense, really love the effort put into accessibility with this entry, great job
- 1. Accessibility: Before I start the actual review of the game itself, I’m glad to see that there is information on accessibility on the itch.io game page. Having information easily accessible is often something that is overlooked on most game platforms, so it is impressive to see the developers add this to their page. Well done. 1.1 Start of the game: It starts with setting menu, that has impressive text to speech. Only thing is that it does not tell you what your mouse is hovering over, so it can be hard to use if you don’t have any vision. The TTS is though still useful and well implemented. It’s good to see that we have the setting menu/options accessible to us on the start menu, as some disabled games will need to access the setting before starting the game. I do though wish that you could access this when playing the game, without restarting everything. Good contrast between the text and the background. 1.2 In game: Starts with text on a faded background. I wish the background was solid, as it can be a bit hard to see the white text when the white parts of the game shows through. Glad that we are getting a tutorial, but I wish it was a bit more informative as it was a bit hard to understand when the hunters would attack. Impressive use of TTS with all the different settings. It can be a bit hard to understand which character you have selected and are moving, but here TTS helped a lot. Really cool to see high contrast mode being used. Mouse click worked fine and is a good accessibility option. Some disabled gamers have limited possibilities to use a wide range of keys when gaming, so keeping it simple is a big plus. Games that keep their controller simple, and only a few buttons, will be accessible for a whole range of disabled gamers with motor barrier. This can also be to great use for people with cognitive barriers, as there isn’t any need to memories complicated button setups. I was able to connect my xbox controller and the game recognised my controller at once, which is good. Sadly, the sensitivity on the joystick was so high, that I could not use it as it made the pointer jump all over the screen. Use of the keyboard worked wonderful. I like that the games gives three different ways to control the game, as this makes it quite accessible when it comes to motor accessibility. This game can be played with the need for only one finger or eye tracking, which is impresive. 2. Theme: I sadly do not understand how the game ties into the theme of new beginning. 3. Innovation/Creativity: Fun games, gives me the vibe of a board game. Impressive to see the devs making a whole setup with rules and strategies. 4. Gameplay: Unique gameplay with its own set of rules. Really cool to see. Can be a bit hard to understand when starting, but you get the hang of it. 5. Conclusion: All in all, this is a fun game that feel like a fully made game, something that is really impressive given the amount of time in this game jam. They hit the mark on the accessibility they wished to add, but sadly some of the settings are a bit buggy. Fun experience with unique gameplay! Well done with the TTS, Keep up with the good work!
- I LOVED this game so much, I spent so long playing it. My only piece of feedback would be a tutorial level to ease people into the game, as it can be easier for some disabled people to learn 'in practice' rather than through trial and error, and so a short walkthrough would have been perfect.
- I think this is a fantastic start to making a game like this that is accessible for the blind, however it definitely would need a bit of tweaking, as it currently is not. A sighted person is needed for navigation of menus, and the movement between tiles can be a l,ittle fast, and therefore spoken information about each tile runs together slightly. I enjoyed my time playing this :)
