Great visual and audio effects but the playing field is just too small, and the game also froze straight-up (literally became a still image with zero keyboard input recognition) midway through the first boss fight. I am compelled to rank gameplay first and sensory experience second.
You only need to know three things about this shmup: 1. Its visuals are straight up bonkers and definitely an experience that is worth checking out. 2. It is a hardcore shmup without being a "bullet hell", so if you only have passing interest in the genre, you might want to move along, but if you mastered a shmup before, this might be a worthy challenge. 3. And for shmup lovers: it is a shmup that heavily relies on memorisation of the levels, as your ship is slow and you need to anticipate the moves to have a chance as the game also doesnt really do a lot of powerups/speed ups. That should give you a handy guide to figure out if its for you. If this type of game is your thing, then Rym9000 is a bliss. The visuals and soundtrack alone are worth throwing my controllers against the wall, but otherwise, this might be one of the most painful games of the bundle for you. I like it a lot and will grab the PS4 version at one point and zone myself out to it. 3,5/5

Has lots of style. Almost TOO MUCH...
I can barely see what's on screen. Some enemies get a tone before they appear on screen (vaguely pointing in the direction they're coming from), the one's that come from behind DON'T. I think there's a health system in this; I hope there is, most Sh'mups make the cockpit the only weak spot, but I barely get breathed on and suddenly the game is over.
I really wanted to enjoy this game, I love Sh'mups, but this didn't really cut it.
Project Wingman is a great game with excellent graphics, and gameplay. I finished a playthrough of Ace Combat 7 a little bit ago and this honestly reminded me of that. It even has HOTAS support, which works better than most AAA flight games I've seen. 5 stars 100%.
