it only costs 1 coin to come back to life? shit thats cheap man. nobody should be in hell at that rate.

I don't normally love the whole "giant upscale ratio" thing that some pixel games do, but I don't completely hate it here. I almost commented that I thought the coins being health was unique and cool but I forgot that was literally the LD theme.

The controls are really tight and responsive, and I love dodging around. Good work there! Obstacles are kind of hard to see against the background in a couple places (you fixed that with later levels), but I like that it's all dark while the characters are all bright. Really makes it easy to tell what's going on. Sometimes enemies get stuck behind obstacles and just stop moving, and on that note sometimes when they follow me and I stop moving, they stop too far away and attack but can't reach. Mages can attack through some walls (and from off screen) and it's god damned infuriating in general to die to them. They don't have an animation or anything showing you when they're going to shoot, though only one can shoot at a time so it could be worse.

The later levels are fuckin insane. The difficulty curve is more like an immediate, jarring line upwards. You do a couple of tame levels and then just get completely fucked up. Normally it's not a good idea to attack a player as soon as they walk in a level, so that could be part of it.

I really wish enemies didn't die when you lost health. That big red demon guy was actually pretty well designed and fun to fight but if you take a hit (like you probably will the first time you enter his floor) the entire fight is just bypassed, which seems like a waste. It's also annoying when you're trying to kill yourself after messing up.

I tried many times to get passed Underbelly 1 but I just couldn't do it. I wish there was a way to obtain coins while playing. Maybe after defeating a difficult enemy without losing any HP? Somethin'.

Either way this was pretty fun to play, keep up the good work!!
