"Atvērtās Spēļistrādes Komūna" or "Open Gamedev Community Latvia" welcomes everyone to dig up an unpopular open source game engine and make a game!
Theme: "Particle of Life"
The rules are as follows:
- Use any OPEN SOURCE game engine or game framework that is available on GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket/any other publicly available source;
- The less popular the engine or framework, the more points you will get;
- Implement the theme as loosely or literally as you want in the game, but it has to be in it;
- Submit the game with a link to a DevLog about your experience using the game engine.
For example, what went great, what went bad and whether you'd recommend using it for other projects? This can be in a video format on youtube, a text DevLog here on itch.io game page or link to your blog post.. etc.. - it's up to you; - You can only use open source or your own created asset;
- The code for the game must be published as open source on GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket/any other publicly available source;
- You can participate in other jams with the entry you submit here, but if we suspect it’s a “spam” game (submitted to many random jams), we will disqualify you;
- You have about a week to submit a game, but you can update the entry after the submission period, if you want to!
Schedule:
Voting criteria:
- Primary criteria for this game jam is "Quality of the devlog" - How educational it was for other game developers? What did the developer learn from using mostly unheard of game engine?
- "Is the game engine unheard of?" - Less popular game engines should get more points
- "Did you like the game?" - Of course the game also should be more or less enjoyable
