This time, the theme is 'The Sequel That Never Was,' where you are invited to create a sequel to an Amiga game from back in the day.
This contest ends on the 1st December 2024.
Entries submitted to this jam should have been started after the 1st of June 2024 (please don't submit a game you started before this jam was announced).
Feel free to use any tools you like to make this game as long as the submitted game executable works on an Amiga (whether it's a classic Amiga, a Vampire or a Next-Generation OS). The game can be a single level or an incomplete game but it has to be at least playable and you may get rated higher for a full game.
There will be two categories as usual for you to submit your game in - Classic OCS/AGA Amigas and Next-Gen (includes RTG/Vampire too). The entries should be submitted by the 1st December and fit within the theme of this current contest. Judging will begin shortly after this and there will be a live-show where the celebrity judges will discuss and give their ratings along with the community votes.
Q. Are prequels allowed?
A. Yes! The idea behind this year's theme is to create what more you want to see from a particular Amiga game, and if the story calls for a *prequel* then it's still allowed.
Q. Are there restrictions on the used of ripped assets this time around?
A. Ripped assets are fine in these friendly competitions as long as there's no profit involved, so copyright shouldn't be an issue. Many sequels reuse assets from previous games, so for a jam focused on sequels, using ripped assets shouldn't be judged severely.
Q. What languages or tools are allowed to be used in this contest?
A. Any you like! As long as the final game executable runs on an Amiga, then it's all good.
Q. How strict is the "sequel to an Amiga game" rule?
A. It must be based on an Amiga game that has been released. Public domain and homebrew games are also acceptable in this case as long as it was released on the Amiga.
Q. If an Amiga game had a sequel released on PC, is it acceptable to create an Amiga version of the PC sequel?
A. Yes, although this is considered to be a "port" and the judges may award more points for originality in the game idea.
Q. Can I make a sequel of my game and enter it into this competition?
A. Yes, as long as there is an Amiga version of your game available.
